I ended up wearing a cross necklace to an interview in spite of it being with a very liberal organization. I knew it might not help me get the job, but decided that if they won't hire me over wearing a cross then I don't want to work there anyway.

I would... I'm not convinced that people would see wearing a cross as a sign for or against any beliefs here though. I also think that people care less about each others religious views here then in many other places and on the other hand, are rather private about their own, so it wouldn't be an issue if the cross would actually "mean" something. ;)

Thinking about it now, I've worn my cross to all my past interviews. I don't think it was ever commented on as being a negative, and actually I know that it was probably a benefit at my current job as my boss is also a christian. But the reason I'm not sure if I would be future is because all my interviews have been in my home town in which most people are christian. When I started going to University in a near by city, I saw that people noticed my cross a lot more, and often it brought me negative attention. This is why I'm not sure if I would wear it, and why I voted for "it depends".

Sheesh thats nice, wearing a cross here is almost considered a political statement anymore.

Yes, but it is under my shirt so no one can really see it.

My question is, does it actually mean anything anymore? I feel like some people wear it just to make a fashion statement.

Very true, their are many men that will wear a cross as a cool piece of jewelry and not because of any devotion to Christianity.

I don't wear any jewelry except my wedding set but if I did wear a star of david I would leave it on for an interview.

Being that a large percentage of people are Christians I wouldn't think wearing a cross would be an issue.

i dont normally wear one so why would i put one on just for the interview? if its part of your normal attire i say do it. if its not. then dont.

This^ The only cross I have is a small tasteful one. I wear it occasionally. I might wear one to an interview but not because of the interview; if that makes sense. But I wouldn't put on a huge gaudy bling bling one just to "prove" and "show" I was a Christian to anyone.
