Well, there's no guarantee we'll always remain in the same place, in the same house, on the same land, so personally I don't see a reason to bury a pet there if someone else might own the place eventually.

When my awesome dog passed away a couple years ago I had him cremated and I spread his ashes on a trail we used to love to hike together, a public trail that other people and dogs enjoy, with beautiful mountain scenery. It makes me tear up thinkin' about it but I'm glad he's there

I'm not sure what context "spend the night" is being used . . . umm, i'll play it safe since I'm a man and choose hangin' with a feral cat.
