• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would you put your brain in a robot body?

That depeneds on how much money you are willing to spend, and how much pain you want to go through. I'm sure that eventually there will be a system patch to correct any problems.

I'm sure you'll have some options for arousal and such. That's just a chemical thing, and can be replicated.
Whats this about pain? Are you saying I can function without pain, when my brain has evolved to feel and respond to it, and therefore probably cannot function as well without it? It might at least help me from inadvertantly damaging the robot body and the expense that would incurr.

People with CIPA have working brains. The problems that come with it are related to not knowing when you're being damaged. Your robot body will have damage sensors, and you can wire that to effect the pain centers of your brain... but why would you?

Nah I already live vicariously through the internets. If I had no chance at living for real I would short circuit myself.

You'd be living for real, just as a robot. It's no different than what you're doing now, your brain is directly in control of a meat puppet.

Think of this as a hardware upgrade.

I wonder how hard would it be to retrain the brain to use 4 arms or a tripod leg system?

I think I might have issues with direct brain to internet connection. I'm already possibly ADD, but now I do have to disconnect from computers to do other things. If I didn't have to...

But just think, a whole new arena for hackers :ebil:

Indeed. I don't want a fridge with apps, because I can only imagine what a hacker might do to my fridge with a little time on his hands.

I guess I will just have to make sure my android interface was not designed by Microsoft.

Well a fridge with apps is fine, you just need to have it sequestered to your local intranet behind the firewall, unless you've got hackers in the house :)

No, the kids are no good with computers yet. All the damage they cause is accidental.

Well you can always start them off :)

Linux for Children

Very tempting. I'll look into it. Right now they are learning how to not damage Windows, or at least to not clutter the heck out of it, but I may push Linus on them at some point.

The brain would still degrade inside the robot body. I would prefer a memory/personality transfer to an onboard artificial "brain". If that happened I would probably spend a few decades on Earth. I would then transfer to a space probe and go explore space.
