Would You Date/Marry a Widow?

Everyone is talking about marrying a divorced person, but what about those who are widowed? In spite of moving on with their lives, people tend to feel sorry and are afraid to date them because people think the word, "Widow" is a dirty word to some and people fear to date them because of their status.
I am a widow, but people afraid to date me or even have a relationship with me because of my status of being widdowed/Single. I wish people do not judge me because of my status, but I just wish people accept me as a person and someone who want to have a relationship with someone and eventually want to marry again. But what does everybody think of this take?

I can't think of any reason that I *wouldn't* date a widower... unless he was still hung up and carrying baggage... but that usually just takes time to heal.

I would definitely consider marrying a widower. It runs in my family! My grandmother's mother died when she was a toddler, and my great-grandfather remarried. Then my grandmother grew up and married a widower with a baby girl.

There's nothing wrong with marrying a widow. For me personally, I doubt if I would though, simply because it would seem like such a big difference from where I am at in my life. Of course, I also don't personally think that I would be ready to be married at all, to anyone I know that sadly there are young people who are widowed, but I usually think of widows as being older, having kids already, that sort of thing. But I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who are more grown-up and mature than me who would be ready to marry a widow.

Don't get down on yourself about being a widow, hockeysistah234. The Bible says that it is a good idea for younger widows to get remarried if they want to, and you would certainly qualify as a younger widow according to the Bible. God knows your needs and how and when to meet them

I wouldn't have a problem dating/marrying a widower as long as they were ready to move forward with their life. I think a time to mourn and grieve for the one they lost is important and I wouldn't want to interfere with that, but once they felt they were ready to move forward, I wouldn't be afraid.

I wouldn't have a problem dating/marrying a widower as long as they were ready to move forward with their life. I think a time to mourn and grieve for the one they lost is important and I wouldn't want to interfere with that, but once they felt they were ready to move forward, I wouldn't be afraid.

The thing is that I have been moving forward with my life for a number of years now. But still, people are afraid to date or even get to know me because of that.
My problem now is impatience, because I am in my late forties and wants to be married again. I know God wantx me to be patient and wait, but this woman wants to get married now, lol..

To me that seems like a silly reason to not want to date someone. But I can surely understand how frustrating it can be. The only thing I know to tell you is that God has a plan. Sometimes it's hard to see and understand but His Word tells us that He works all things to our good. Even those things we don't understand.

I'm sorry if I offended you. All I'm saying is that there's nothing about the title "widow" that should make someone thing twice about dating someone (unless they're the cause of their spouse's death)....that's really the only slight, remote reason that I would think of.

I know what you mean. I know that God has a plan for me and that includes marriage again. But the frustrating part is that when and who the man is. That man has to accept me, past and all and he has to love me uncondtionally, including flaws which I am working on.

Although I am involved in my church body and serving in Christian circles, I'ts hard sometimes to see couples and you are alone wanting to be hugged and touched and kissed. But on the other hand, God does not want me to be searching to and fro and stress myself finding a future mate. I'ts not really the woman's job not to search, but let the man find you.

But at the same time, I put in ads in single sites hoping that someone will find me, but all I get it seems is creeps and someone from "Africa" because people think because I am an African American, I am "needy and vunable," which I am not.

Therefore, I pray that a godly man who may ever he might be not use the word "Christian" as a buzz word and is someone who is truly saved and not playing these mind games with me.

I guest they are some how scared, maybe they have a fear of never truly feeling the void your spouse may have left. I would date a widow if God led me to him, but hey that just me.
