My son is 5months old and he gets in these moods where all he does is cry and when I hold him he kicks and screams and so I lay him in his bed and let him cry sometimes he crys for 5mins and goes to sleep oh I change his diaper and feed him and he still does these sometimes he crys for an hour but I don't know what else to do for him...

Absolutely not! Dont think your a horrible mom for that.. Has he ever been collicy? (not sure of the spelling) but maybe he just cries, to cry. Ask God for answers, He will give them to you.

I don't think you are a bad Mom either for doing this...My oldest son had colic for the 1st 6 months of his life and we had to do this often...there was nothing else for us to do cause we tried everything and I mean everything...Could your son have gas? If he is kicking and screaming, it could just be gas? Try giving him some of that Mylicon? I think that is what its called, for infant gas...I will keep you and your little one in my prayers

My oldest daughter had colic and the only way to give her relief was to hold her a certain way and rock her. If I stopped for even a minute the crying started again. My wife and I took turns rocking her. We spent a lot of sleepless nights and then she seemd to outgrow it at a certain point around 8 months old I think. It is difficult when a bay can't talk to tell you what is wrong. Just do the best you can and it will get better one way or another eventually.

I agree it sounds like gas. Mylacon drops work wonders. Give it a try. DOes he curl his legs up? That a good indication that it is gas. If it keeps up give your DR a call better safe then sorry. Plus they may have a few good hints for you.

You're not a bad mom! One of the toughest parts about new motherhood is figuring out why your baby is crying. It sounds like your doing exactly the right things--feeding, changing, lying him down in his crib. Definitely try the Mylicon to see if it's gas (does your baby have a high-pitched scream at these times? That's how I know my younger son has gas). Other than that, all you can do is comfort him. Some babies just have a fussy time during the day.

If you're okay with him watching a video at this age, I recommend anything in the "Baby Einstein" series. They have been lifesavers for us!
