• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would This Be Right?

well, you labeled it right. As for which are the "Bush Agenda" , #s 1, 7, 8, and 9 are about all the President supports and those with reservations.

As a liberal I'm against all of them except #8 and that's because of where I'm from; most liberals elsewhere would not support that one.

7 is tricky; they just go from civil service to contractors and pay them less and corporate America gets a percentage then.

If this is somebody's priorities I'm pleased there's nothing about sex or abortion in there, though the xenophobia in 2, 3, and 4 is horrible.

what exactly would that accomplish might i ask?

saying a few words dont have a magical effect on the people who say them.

if you want proof just look at all the kids who say the oath of allegiance in schools and then go and shoplift, rob people, kill people.

don't be so naive.

and what about jehova's witnesses. they dont swear allegiance to anyone but god.

what will you do with those people? put them in concentra.... i mean determent camps. :(

I support the health testing of forgien immigrants. I have had my name pop up on patient charts as being in contact with one to many TB postive patients that where immigrants. I worked in ER for several years before having my son. Everytime you get notice to be tested made your stomach drop.

I do think we should allow more drilling on American Soil, but not in National Parks.

Deporting illegal immigrants is a tricky one for me, since I live in area of US that has high population of illegal immigrants.

No don't think bilingual education should be stopped, just think it should be started at earlier age when children learn it easier than in highschool.

As for tax cuts, i do not know enough about ecomonics to judge on this matter.

What would be the purpose in reducing number of federal employees. Hope thier not talking about IRS, sheesh hard enough to get someone on the hotline now.

I wouldn't say close the borders, but tighten the security of the borders.

And as for the last one, if it's referring to stopping stupid lawsuits! Heck ya I get tired of people suing someone for some dumb reason, when the person sueing probaly was at fault for whatever happened.

Example, the stupid mc donalds case.

sorry all out of order, just kept scrolling up heheee

2. Close the borders now.

No, The United States is a Melting Pot, I think we should have better monitoring at the borders to reduce illegal immigration.
3. Deport all illegal immigrants now.

4. Eliminate bilingual education in all states.

I think its important for people who speak English to learn another language as well as for those who don't speak English to learn it. I also think it should start at an earlier age.

5. Require health tests for all recent foreign born immigrants.

I would not object to health tests for foreign born immigrants, simply as a safety precaution.

6. Eliminate as many entitlement programs as possible.

hmm..I'm not sure what you mean by entitlement programs..

7. Reduce the number of Federal Employees.

I think the number of paper-pushers should be reduced...and jobs should be created where people don't have 50 bosses to answer to. (but that should go for all work places, not just federal)

8. Oil Drilling on U.S. Soil.

As long as it isn't in a wildlife refuge, or other nationally protected area, If they are nationally protected then our nation obviously had a reason to protect them in the first place.

9. Tort Reform "STOP LAWYERS".

Huh?

ah, everybody complains about the infamous McDonald's coffee lawsuit, never mind that it's akin to buying a knife which cuts through your food, plate, table, leg, and bone before you can do anything about it. 96% of the boiling point of water is a little too hot for mine, thank you. If they'd paid the $20,000 bill in the first place there wouldn't be a problem.

Tenek, you said
What exactly is wrong with bilingual education, anyways? English supremacist or what

what is wrong whith it is the fact Why should i have to learn a different language i feel if you come here from a difrent country you should be able to speak English or you shouldnt be here at all we should not have to learn spanish etc the main language is ENGLISH

what i find intresting is that most of you who say that we shouldnt close our borders how do you think some of the 9-11 hyjackers came yes thats right they sneaked in from canada

,and TB has made a come back due to the rising illegal alien population to those who say no to deporting illegel aliens and no to closing the borders i have a question for you ?

do you think we should reward those who cross our borders illegaly? with welfare and ssi benifets , or free health care?you may want to support them but i sure dont why should we cater to them?

its all about BORDERS, LANUAGE, CULTURE

That's right, blame Canada, despite that there's no evidence that the Sept. 11th hijackers actually crossed into the U.S. from Canada.

Not to mention close-minded paranoia

U.S. to Bring in New Rules for Canada Immigrants
54 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States signaled on Friday its intention to go ahead with requiring visas for immigrants to Canada from certain Commonwealth countries, including India and Pakistan
when these ppl come from different countrys to canada they are not required to have a visa but as usual the canadians are crying racial profiling

So?

It's the United States' responsibility for who gets into the U.S., not Canada's.

Btw, that article had nothing to do with whether or not the Sept 11th hijackers crossed into the U.S. from Canada.

Also btw, you might want to look at where a lot of the U.S. bound planes were routed after U.S. airports were shut down on Sept 11th.

"Tort Reform" means ---in the p.r. response of its advocates---being able to limit the rights to file frivilous lawsuits. In practice, though, it is a concept by big business and the politicians in thrall to corporatism, to limit the rights of "little guys" to sue the powerful.

We all know of lawsuits that seem ridiculous---the McDonald's coffee case out of Albequerque comes readily to mind---but that is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Plaintiff's attorneys are some of the unsung heroes of today.
