God. In John chapter 1 it say in the begging was the word and the word was with God.2 He was in the begging with God.3 All things were made through him, and without was made that was made.4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. Then what was there before beginning?
Why are you so pesstimistic when it comes to Jesus or christianity. What's wrong in believing in something that gives you hope and makes you a better person. I also noticed in your statement you said a "being that MIGHT not even exist." So if he did exist, what harm is it to you to believe in him. If he doesn't exist then what have you lost nothing! Either way your in a win win situation. Why should a peron not have hope, hope is what gets through our journey through life, without hope were in bad condition. I hope God keeps blessing you over and over again.Fr0st2k said:yes it would matter if there wasnt a god, because first off, no one would have to waste there time going to church, no one would waste their time praying and hoping for something that wont come true because they prayed for it. People would start trying to help themselves more, gain confidence in themselves instead of placing it with a being that might not even exist...thats just a few reasons why it would matter
What made God change his mind about being alone?pentecostal girl said:God. "Would it matter if God did NOT exist?"
I know this if I am a believer and if GOD does not exist what do I have to lose?
Now turn the question around and ask "Would it matter if GOD did exist?" to a non believer.
I think I am going to keep my chances. The What If's are always interesting posts.

Save ny skin, no, save my soul. As lincoln said, People are about as happy as they make their minds up to be, but no one is going to be happy in hell. We are all going to die rather we fear it or not, so you might just as well be prepared for the after life. And if this life is all there is, and believing in God makes me happy, aren't you the one being a spoil sport?Osiris said:well, well, aren't we a little bit spoiled?
so the only reason you are religious is so you can save your own skin?
not to do good and make people happy?
if God told you to try to save(teach about the word) as many people as you could, but at the end only those people would be saved but not you. Would you be religious? From your answer I think that you wouldn't.
But it's ok, most religious people are that way, they are only religious because of their fear of dying.

Blissman said:In a sense, God does not exist, it is our belief in God that lives. If God did not in fact exist, He would still exist for us. We would still continue to obey all of the Morals and the laws, and the Commandments, His comfort, and His Saving Grace. God exists without evidence. God does need proof that He exists.
chris0513 said:I will agree that far too many people are Christian out of a sheer desire for "fire insurance" but to assume that TwinCrier would not be Christian except out of a fear of dying is ludacrious. I will agree that some out there are teaching 90% law and 10% grace (Ray Comfort is a perfect example) and yes, we are all given the Great Commission in Matthew, but let's face it, if 95% of Christians will never lead someone to Christ, the rest of us 5% need to step it up.
I question your tone, Osiris. Asking the purely hypothetical question as to whether I would be Christian if everyone I taught about the Word would be saved but I would not is a false question. No one can answer that nonsense correctly.
That's really the opposite of what Jesus Christ taught, but anyways...We are sinners, friend. All of us would choose our own Salvation over that of others, and you will never convince me otherwise because it will never come to pass.
We all sin and fall short of the glory of God, and we would all choose our own skin, because all we do we do because we love Christ. Without Salvation, there is no love for Christ, and if there is no love, there is no teaching about His Word.
Simply, God cannot be LOVE (everywhere in NT) without someone to Love. At the very least, he had to form the Trinity.revolutio said:What made God change his mind about being alone?

if no? then you do you really love him?

1 think we know about us is that we die... (and we dont like that)
all we know about God is that he's powerfull
he can give you eternal life if you love him
he can let you die if you don't love him
hmmm, many people choose to love him. I wonder why.
>>Personally, I can only question my own motives. Someone else's motives are between them and God. But to assume that people choose to love God out of a fear of dying is to believe and support that what we are preaching is the truth!!! So thanks!
>>To an agnostic (since there really is no such thing as atheism) who does not believe the Bible or its teachings, the question is moot, since they do not (typically) believe in heaven or hell, so it's never a matter of choosing between the two.
Actually, it's a simple yes or no personal question that you have to answer honestly, if you can't answer it that means that you have doubts in following christianity under those circumstances.
>>You're killing me. That question cannot be answered because IT CANNOT HAPPEN! How can you say that I doubt my Christianity? How dare you! You are robbing Christ of his Judgement Throne. Only he knows where he and I stand.
If God asked you to sacrifice your life, with no hope of ever living again for the good of the universe, will you do it?
if no? then you do you really love him?
>>That's just a purely ludacrious question. I'm not even going to answer it because you cannot posit such a theory because 1) God would not ask me to sacrifice hope like that because he created me to spend eternity with him! and 2) My life is not for the good of the universe, it is for the good of God.
If I'm missing the point, Praise God.
Incidentally, where do you stand on the realm of belief? and Please do not say atheism.
In Christ,
Chris
"and we would all choose our own skin, because all we do we do because we love Christ. "
I dont see the connection... because we love Jesus, we choose our own skin?
.... to be continued [i have to leave school]
Read the first chapter of Genesis. It's all explained in that chapter. God BlessWhat made God change his mind about being alone?
what do you know about God?chris0513 said:Nonsense...

SO to assume that if you say "Santa will put you in the naughty list if you are bad" is to believe and support that Santa Clause exists is the truth??But to assume that people choose to love God out of a fear of dying is to believe and support that what we are preaching is the truth!!! So thanks!
again, so IF god existed, is his bible teaching what agnostics believe?>>To an agnostic (since there really is no such thing as atheism) who does not believe the Bible or its teachings, the question is moot, since they do not (typically) believe in heaven or hell, so it's never a matter of choosing between the two.
again, you are limiting your logic here, that is bad chris...Actually, it's a simple yes or no personal question that you have to answer honestly, if you can't answer it that means that you have doubts in following christianity under those circumstances.

If God asked you to sacrifice your life, with no hope of ever living again for the good of the universe, will you do it?
if no? then you do you really love him?
and you know this because?? you've been living your whole life only wanting "life", the reward that he'll give you at the end after he knows that you love him?If God asked you to sacrifice your life, with no hope of ever living again for the good of the universe, will you do it?
if no? then you do you really love him?
>>That's just a purely ludacrious question. I'm not even going to answer it because you cannot posit such a theory because 1) God would not ask me to sacrifice hope like that because he created me to spend eternity with him!
k, let me rephrase it for you....and 2) My life is not for the good of the universe, it is for the good of God.
I dont understand your intentions here,If I'm missing the point, Praise God.
ok, I won't...Incidentally, where do you stand on the realm of belief? and Please do not say atheism.
how does that make me a spoiled sport just because believing in God makes you happy?TwinCrier said:Save ny skin, no, save my soul.
