Would it be weird to mail a gospel tract to someone you don't know

I'm trying to figure out ways I can bring glory to God's kingdom and maybe leave an imprint on souls. I'm limited in what I can do at the moment and had an idea that I could mail gospel tracts with my testimony to people via whitepages. Would it be weird? Someone from a Kingdom Hall near us once mailed my dad a magazine and letter. We had no idea who she was. I thought it was cool she took time to send us that. What do you think? Yay or nay?

I don't know what whitepages is but no, i don't think it's weird. Its good to read testimonies. You never know who might pick them up and read them. Just pray before you right them and send them out that they will go to the right people and your words will touch their heart. You are planting seeds.

Most people, I think, consider that sort of thing to be what fanatics do...and so are turned off by it. You could take the view that if only a few people who receive the literature are helped by it, that's what matters, but many churchgoing Christians would say it's a bad idea because it is likely to produce more resentment than good will and interest.

Whitepages is like a phone book you can look up businesses and people with their phone numbers and address.

Oh those whitepages.
Well. I have left gospel tracts inside library books and in neighbourhood letterboxes.
But I suppose you could if you had the names of people and personalised each letter. But, how many are you going to do? The whitepages is really big! Also, youd need some money for postage, so count the cost first.

I'm only going to do one first to see how it goes. But my fear is it will be seen as creepy...but someone else did it to my family (she sent a magazine and a letter) and i thought it was way cool.

First of all, what tracts? Second, be prepared for a lot of them to be thrown away unopened.

the way you bring glory to God is to simply believe Him; as a result of believing Him, you will follow follow His leading, and in so doing HE will lead others to Himself using you as a vehicle.

Rom 10:13-17 KJV
(13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(14) How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
(15) And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
(16) But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
(17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

tracts are fine as a help, but are no substitute to hearing the word of God - the gospel - spoken in faith. first, be sure you know what the gospel really is - the almost too good to be true news - then you will be prepared to share it with others. this will help:

I understand that, but I don't know how much time I have left to do things for God. Evangelism is the one thing in heaven we can't do, and I made it my life's goal to try to affect as many souls as I can for God, even if in a small way.

why do you think you don't have much time left?
I might have Lupus. I got my blood results back and it showed inflammation but my ANA (autoimmune profile) came back negative (positive for automatic Lupus diagnosis). But there are people who have Lupus have have negative ANA and my doctor said to just come back if symptoms persist and I'm scared no one will take me seriously--I'm still not feeling well but can't go back for a while because my family thinks I'm being a hypochondriac. I'm just scared of it hurting my organs before I can get properly diagnosed. :( In case something happens to me before I can do things for God.

Don't worry about folks who don't take you serious
about what you're dealing with...follow-up with the
doctor like he told you if the symptoms persists.

I've had people tell me they don't believe my back
is messed up...I don't "worry" about what they think.
I've seen the x-rays and know what the truth is, so does
my husband...who has experienced his own share of
people telling him that he's not handicapped...the man
is an amputee...people believe what they want and say
what they want. He use to show people his prosthetic,
that didn't convince them either ... oh well, life goes on.

I think there are better ways to evangelize, by for example, engaging in visible charitable work.

you are still exercising faith for lupus; how will you know when you're healthy? will it be based on how you feel? on doctor's reports and lab tests? or does God's word have the final say?

as far as doing something for God is concerned; He only requires that we believe Him and yield to His leading; this is what we do to for God - if you're trying to please God by sending tracks to people outside of His leading, then your motivation is wrong and it will have little if any positive effect; He isn't pleased with what we do; He is pleased by our faith in His word and action on His leading regardless of other 'reports' - be led by God as only He knows what people will respond to and when they will respond.

remember king saul; he wanted to please God, but didn't want to obey his leading, and didn't believe His word when the pressure came (1Sam 10:8; 1Sam 13:1-13)...

I just want to tell another person about Christ and leave my mark on this world before I die and was trying to think of avenues I can go down to do so. I can't go outside and tell people up front, I am too sick. I just want to bring the gospel to someone else, even if they reject it, before I die.

It must be tough fighting an illness, but I don't think mailing strangers religious literature is a good idea. Perhaps you could share your faith in another way, such as by making a donation to a charitable cause.

May you find healing & peace. Good luck.

She doesnt have much money..i think she has to pay doctors fees.
I actually would encourage everyone to share their testimony, even if that person is a stranger. The gospel isnt for christians only, as faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
