deacon,
Please show me where in the bible God said it's okay for us to take powerful chemicals and use surgery to change the way he designed our body to work?
Don't you find it odd, even a little, that God would make a female only fertile less than 2 weeks out of the month?
If God did that, then why do we need to improve on what he did and make ourselves infertile permanently?
I do not see in the bible God giving us that power to abuse our body in that way.
I'm glad to see someone finally saying this. The quote about being fruitful and multiplying doesn't do it either. I've already been fruitful and multiplyed twice. The Bible doesn't specify how many is enough or that one has to multiply forever. It's all academic anyways, as there is no biblical command against avoiding pregancy in the first place. (please PLEASE don't quote Onan... that's not what that was about.)
That misses the point. That is a defect which people want fixed to be normal. fertility is not a defect. So, it's immoral to operate on a baby with a clept lip because that's obviously how God made him? Strange.

Should we not be more concerned with what the bible DOES say, as opposed to what it doesn't?deacon,

There other ways that do not include mutilating reproductive organs to do that.
Why do you REPEATEDLY REFUSE to provide any Biblical evidence for your argument?
Your only answer, when asked for Biblical proof to back up your claim that birth control is sinful, is to say, "tell me where the Bible says it's okay to take powerful chemicals..."
Non sequitur my friend. Totally unrelated.
Why not just provide us Book, Chapter and Verse, from the Bible, where it says birth control is sin.
you've used this deflection before. It's no more valid now than it was then!Because you want something plainly stated, explict evidence, and that is a DOUBLE STANDAR, a Logical fallacious argument, for you don't hold yourself to that same standard regarding all your beliefs.
Where does the scripture PLAINLY STATE that the Holy Spirit is:
Co-equal with the Father and the Son
Co-eternal with the Fathr and the Son
Co-eternally pre-existing with the Father and the Son
???
It doesn't anywhere . .
So your requriement and argument is logically false ..
If you don't need the above beliefs plainly stated inscripture to validate those beliefs, then neither can you require such a level of evidence to validate ours.
.

you can continue to think so, if you wish. I haven't seen a clearly logical argument from your position yet, only argument from supposed authority. It is extremely valid.
Refusing the recognize the validity of an arugment, ignoring facts in evidence, is simply more examples of the logically false nature of the arguments of those who so engage in them.
.
No, but it can have just as devistating an impact as a defect under certain conditions.
His arguement is that it is wrong to modify what God made, and that would include such corrective procedures.
