Hi Ed,
"If you open your eyes wide, you will see in Matthew 5:2 that Jesus was teaching his DISCIPLES (verse 1). If you go to verses 13-16, Jesus was telling his DISCIPLES that they are the "salt and the light of the world." Tell me friend, how can the MULTITUDES be the "salt and the light of the world" unless they are ALL Christ's DISCIPLES? Are they?"
Ed, you're the only one I know who believes that Jesus was speaking only to his apostles/disciples and not the crowds gathered to hear him. OF COURSE they are all the light of the world, for they are all God's children
"The problem is, ONLY the SHEEP of Jesus HEAR his voice and FOLLOW (obey) him (John 10:27). That's the reason why DESPITE Protestants' penchant for "reading" the Bible, they CANNNOT hear Jesus SAY he is a MAN. They also CANNOT hear Jesus tell the FATHER that He is the ONLY true God."
Ed, just to let you know, I don't care if Jesus was God or not, I just like playing with you.
I read what Jesus said and incorporate it into my life:
Ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
This is what it's all about, and trying to prove Jesus is or isn't God has nothing at all to do with anything. People will believe what they wish, but if they don't walk the walk it's all for naught.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Again, you can quote Paul all you want, but I use Jesus' words only. It's all right there.
""Whoever transgresses and does NOT abide in the doctrine of Christ does NOT have God. He who ABIDES in the doctrine of Christ has BOTH the Father and the Son" (2 John 1:9).
Apostle SAYS that anyone who does NOT stay in the teaching of Christ does NOT have God. Isn't John 8:40 a doctrine of Christ? Isn't John 17:3 a doctrine of Christ? Do you STAY in these doctrines friend?"
(John 8:40? John 8 goes only to verse 34. John 71:3 is about Jesus on the mountain with his disciples.)
You're right about one thing, well, actually John is right. If we transgress (sin) we separate ourselves from God and put ourselves first. That is what sin is all about. If one doesn't do the things I quoted above from Jesus (his doctrine) then of course you don't have Jesus Or God.
The arrogance comes in when your leaders set up your little cult as THE last word on what Jesus meant.
As far as doctrine goes, I believe this is it in a nutshell:
16: And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17: ... but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18: He saith unto him, Which?
Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19: Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20: The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21: Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
AND:
The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
What more do you need?
