Worst books ever?

One the book's on my list of bad books would be any of the warrior cat books from the forth series, third book, onward. I read every book in the series save the last book of the forth series, and from what I herd from several reviewers, it's wasn't worth picking up, which by that time I had already decided to abandon the series anyways.

Anyways, the reason why I say the books from that point onward are bad are because of two reasons, one, it's mostly a regurgitation of what's already happened, except with different cats and a different scenario. The second reason, the books literately lose their cohesiveness, old rules don't apply, (It's like Erin Hunter decided to use a Game-Shark for books,) you've had about four or five cat's change their gender mysteriously, at least three cats had been reincarnated, one was reincarnated into a kit who was actually breathing while she was still alive, I could go own.

If your still looking for suggestions then you can't go past Denis Rodman: Walk on the wild side (1997). I was involved in oreganising a charity trivia night. The local bookshop provided it as a prize. It was included in the silent auction. Three of us made sure there was a bid on every item in the silent auction to start of with. Sadly nobody else placed a bid on Rodmans book so I was stuck with it. I tried reading it because I read every book I own but I just couldn't manage it. I guess the bookshop decided seem as they couldn't sell it they would give it away. Thanks for nothing!

Worst ones I've read within the past 5 years:

-Atlas Shrugged
-The Oz Principle. I got it at some training seminar we had to take at work. What a load of garbage.

One of the worst books I have ever read was Life of Pi. Good grief, it was miserable trying to get through that book. I also couldn't stand Lord of the Flies.

Thats a shame because the movie based on the book is quite good...I was going to read the book..
I also cannot stand romance novels....blerggggghhh....I would rather read the dictionary!!

They were part of freshman english in highschool. So its been like 8 years. I've always been an avid reader. I read frankenstein in the 6th grade. And I'm pretty good about giving a book a chance even if I'm forced to read it. I was forced to read count of monte christo and still liked it. The scarlet letter wasn't that bad. And I love shakespeare(barring romeo and juliet). I even really liked paradise lost. But the cantebury(sp?) tales were quite painful....

I suspect that your dislike of The Three Musketeers may have roots in how it was treated in your class.

While being forced to read something is an issue, how it is treated is usually a larger issue.

And as I mentioned before it is a translation and it is not unusual for the most 'accurate' translation to be one that is stilted, difficult to read and not fulfiling.

Now if you strongly dislike the films (There are at least a dozen film versions) and also dislike any at all like it then the genre is perhaps wrong for you.

One thign that amuses me is to read with an eye to comparing a book to the films. Richelieu and his men are far from the bumbling fools of (most) of the films. The 'evil' characters are not so purely evil, in fact per the epiloge d'Artagnan eventually ends up being good friends with one of them.

Time Bomb by Jonathan Kellerman

Bledding Sorrow by Marilyn Harris

Don't read either one of these, trust me. Time Bomb is bad because the writing is stilted and awkward, and Kellerman leaves the reader hanging with regard to how one of the characters ends up (if that makes sense). Bledding Sorrow is just plain depressing. Avoid this one if you hate being sad.

Some of the books I read as an undergraduate I could NOT get into. It may have just been me, but "The Strange Death of Liberal England" and "Britons: Forging a Nation" were just not my cup of tea. For actual books..."The Great Teahouse Fire" by Ellis Avery was pretty awful IMHO

Anne Rice vampire books for sexually deviant people. They go nowhere.

Windhaven by George R.R. Martin & Lisa Tuttle One of very few books I did not finish.

Jonathan Strange & Mr.Norrell - this book is loved by writers of boring news papers & they gave this boring woman an award. She is a better writer than JK Rowling but not very good at storytelling. Just boring, another book I did not finish.

Not anywhere near as bad as the other books I've listed but R A Salvatore wrote A Thousand Orcs with characters with so much unique powers & basically they throw rocks at each other. What a disappointment.

I attempted to red the Gossip girls series once and it was just painful to get through. I couldn't get through the first book in The Vampire Diaries either

Atlas Shrugged, or anything written by Ayn Rand.

Books 2 and 3 in the Dark Materials trilogy also fall flat and manage to undo what was special about the first book, The Golden Compass.
