'Valentine' by Tom Savage. The book was INCREDIBLE!! The movie SUCKED!!! I knew the movie could never be as great as the book.

'The Shining', 'IT'. The books were great. The movies lacked a lot of things.

'Left Behind'. Granted you can put so much in an 1.5 hour movie.

"Escape to witch mountain" (1995 film remake). This was a good book, and the original 1975 Disney film was very well done for its time and pretty faithful to the book. The remake leads one to wonder, "WHY?!" What on earth did they make it for? The remake's plot is almost nothing like the book and terribly acted.

Dune-an excellent book, a terrible movie, and a really long miniseries
Actually one does have a soft spot for the Movie, Dune (The one with the sound weapons), even though it cut out a few major things (though one has heard that they had to cut almost an hour off the movir for the final production...)

The War of the Worlds with tom Cruise has been the most faithful to book (only updated for the 20-21st century instead of the early 20th century era of the book), one was very impressed with it.

I, Robot...an amazing book...a terrible movie.

Sure, it may have been an entertaining movie, but didn't follow the book at all. Will Smith's character doesn't exist in the book at all. Susan Calvin, the young woman that was a robot-psychologist, was supposed to be old and nearly at her death retelling all the events leading up to the creation and perfection of robots. The movie actually follows the second book in Asimov's Robot Novels better, The Caves of Steel.

In this Elijah Baley, human, is paired with a robot that looks like a human, R. Daneel Olivaw, and they must find out who murdered a Spacer, a man from another planet, although still human.

Robots did not go crazy in the book, they took over political positions secretly due to the advancement of the Three Rules of Robotics.

And I have yet to read The War of the Worlds, but I thought the movie was terrible for a sci-fi...it didn't explain anything at the end, except for how they were stopped...

the "Left Behind" movies have nothing on the books.

you are soooo right. the movies were TRASH!!! they even have a 3rd one coming. by far the worst for me was "Kiss the Girls". the book was one of the best i ever read. the movie didn't even end the same and the charactors differed.

The Left Behind books are just plain BAD and the movies are worse.

I agree, the new "Time Machine" movie was a joke.

I disagree with all of Grisham's novels turning into bad movies. I thought the adaptation of A Time To Kill was brilliant.

I think "Troy" and the made for tv movie "The Odyssey" were disgraceful in comparison to Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey. I am sorry but Brad Pitt-iful does not carry a movie well.
