I think the worst movie ever made that started as a great book was Time Machine. They absolutely butchered that novel!!

they did the firm by john grisham, and it was okay until around halfway through the movie, they changed absolutely everything. The plot from the book was followed almost exactly until one point, where it just swerved off and had nothing to do with the book at all. it made me mad.

I was angered by The Count of Monte Cristo movie. The book was so much better and complicated. They made the movie into a soap opera.

The trupet of the Swan by EB White. The cartoon was idiodic. I loved the book and read it right before seeing the movie....

I think that message in a bottle by nicholas sparks was an incredible book but the movie was repulsive! I HATED IT! It left out all the good parts and subed in awful things!

I have to say Kubrick should be whacked with a wet fish for destroying King's The Shining.

The Harry Potter movies are absolutely shocking! They gave the books a bad rep.. The Around the World in Eighty Days Movie didn't do too much good for the books either, stupid Hollywood making amock out of many popular novels

beowulf. hands down, the worst. it's an amazing movie, but in all the wrong ways. (that is, it's amazing how bad it is, which makes it entertaining to watch.)

Any version, new or old, of The War of the Worlds. The book has yet to be made into a film which bears the slightest resemblance.(I exaggerate)

I agree battle field earth the book was great the film was awful! Dune the film was okay but did not really follow the book...the Mini Series was better

Jurasic Park book was way better then the movie but the movie wasn't too bad, alot more gore and deception in the books.

I can only think of one movie I liked better then the book, and that was Minority Report. The short story by PK Dick wasn't very good, IMHO, and the producers took the idea and ran with it. I try to make a point of reading books before seeing the movie, and movies rarely live up to my expectations.
I would, however, say that I haven't seen a movie yet listed that I disagree with. The books are much better....obviously
