  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

vin diesel.
he was great in pitch black, but only because the role required shouting and a total lack of any human emotion.
could easily replace him with a plank of wood.

i also think that steven segal SUCKS.
he's always playing the same arrogant bleeding-heart-tough-minority-versus-cruel-inconsiderate-land-developers role, complete with subservient token sidekick. if you've seen one of his movies, you've seen them all.

and... relax...

I love Uma Thurman, and think she is an excellent actress.

Ben Affleck has done some horrible stuff, and at other times he has done quite well, I wouldnt place him as one of the worst actors although he certainly not one of the best. I dont consider Miriah Carey or Kelly Clarkson either to be a real actress, so I am going to try and go mainstream with my choices.

Vin Diesel acts how he is supposed to act, It may be bad, but honestly, no one would like him if he was a good actor. So here are my choices

Paul Walker - he was mentioned earlier and I agree completely
Keanu Reaves - seriously, his best acting job was in Bill and Ted's excellent adventure
Kevin Costner - although he did partially redeam himself with Open Range. Waterworld and the Postman will haunt him forever.
Halle Berry - I agree, notioriously bad over actor, and the only reason she got an Oscar was because they were trying to give them to all the black people that year.
Steven Seagal - It has to be said, but honestly, I like his movies. :sigh:
Jennifer Lopez - she just stinks.

Thats my list, Im sure I could think of more.

I agree with most of the choices here, but two problems - Uma Thurman and Vin Diesel.

Thurman really annoys me, I really dislike her movies and her acting in said movies... just seem so brutal and almost amaturish (I'm talking Kill Bill series - I really hated that series)

Vin Diesel - like you said, he acts the way he is supposed to act: brash, loud, cocky and violent. But he has some real talent in there - have you seen Man Apart? He does a great acting job in there, emotions and action all very well done in there. I think the thing against him is simply his character "types", which are generally associated with lack of talent. But I'm going to say that he does his job very well in most (if not all) of his movies. Heck, his character in Saving Private Ryan was pretty good even though he dies half-way through.

[edit] and Keanu Reeves... I don't get why people think he's a terrible actor... he's played so many different types of characters and pulled most of them off very well. Quarterback, cop, psychopathic murderer (didn't see that movie though, but I'm going off reviews of his performance). Again, he's an actor who has a "style" that he does very well - brooding, dark, almost anti-heros (he recent works sorta seem to fall into that category). I'm really looking forward to Constantine with him cause I think he'll do that "style" very well. Reminds me of Devil's Advocate almost - he was great in that movie.

So people are just putting actors they don't like on their list instead of those that cannot act. I'm surprised I'm hearing Tom Cruise, Tim Robbins, Russell Crowe, and Elijah Wood. Tom Cruise is a really talented actor. Just watch "Collateral", "The Last Samurai", "Minority Report", and some of his early films, especially "A Few Good Men". Tim Robbins hasn't had many good movies lately, but he still manages to snag some great movies, like "The Shawshank Redemption". Russell Crowe, well he was "THE BOMB" in "Gladiator". He managed to play of variety of roles really well, including the brilliant schitzophrenic in "A Beautiful Mind" and the Captain Jack Aubrey in "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World". And I do not see how Elijah Wood showed only one emotion throughout all three movies.
