You have asked a very good question.
I believe that the answer is neither one is MORE pleasing to God. I will give you my reasoning.

The LORD is a thrice holy God; when we speak of Him we say Holy, Holy, Holy. This means that He is complete in and of Himself and is in need of nothing. He doesn't need our worship. Worship is God's gift to us in that it allows us to commune with Him.
We worship to gain an understanding of God on an emotional level what we have learned intellectually from reading His word or hearing His word preached. That is why the hymns of old often contained theological truths; these were reinforced by song.
Worship today often contains very repetitive phrases, which are not necessarily wrong, but are sung as though we have to call God's attention. We don't need to call God's attention because we already have it.
We worship not because it is good for God in that He needs it, rather we worship because it is good for us. We need to commune with God, and God desires us to have joy for the sake of joy whether it is public or private.
