  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We have a praise band...drums, 2-3 guitars, bass and singers. They mainly play Third Day, MercyMe, Casting Crowns etc. No flags or dancing, but I've been in other services where some folks just danced with the Holy Spirit in almost a ballet. We have about 125 folks...most worship with their hands raised, some with their eyes shut and smiles on their faces....you can really sense the presence of the Holy Spirit. No hymnals either. I kinda miss some of the good ol' songs of long ago...before CCM. I came out of a southern baptist church and the first time I worshipped at this church in this atmosphere, I cried like a baby. It was so emotional to openly worship that way.

Our Church Might freak you out sometimes. Depending on What Service you go to. Our Youth Group is Massive, Our Young Adult Is... uh....... Massiver..... and adult is........... massivest.

Youth - 3000: Sometimes we have blinding lights from nowhere, fog, who knows, I'm a worship leader. Ten people in our Worship Band. The Thing we usually try to do in the beginning is get the crowd going, and there's lots of jumping, usually people pumping there hands, Mosh, you name it, this has it. But than we get in deep, and people either are bowing, have their hands up, shouting in tongues, crying, shaking, being forced to the floor, you name it, it's happening.

I'm never going to stop being a worship leader there.

Young adults - 7000: Basically the same as above.

Adults - 8000: None of the lively, jumping around stuff, but during deep worship, basically all the things I mentioned. During Lively stuff, we'll still just raise our hands.

Youth is way more lively.

We have a praise and worship team and a choir. The music is mostly CCM/Praise with some good old Southern Gospel thrown in sometimes. During service, if the Spirit is really present, we may not even have a sermon, but a long praise and worship time. If the pastor's got the good Word flowing, there will be many shouts of joy and praise from the pews. And that's just Sunday morning. You oughtta see Sunday night. BTW, we're CoG, also - Welcome Faithful-Frank and Hisgirl!

Pentecostal worship is awsome!!! I am part of the Church of God. We normally raise our hands and shout, but when the Spirit comes who knows what may happen. Dancing, running, jumping, the spirit can really move mountains!!
thats awesome! yea in my church there is sometimes ppl runnin around with flags, some like to shout out clap hands, some ppl like to do there own interperative dances which is so cool! and yea theres electric and all that jazz, I agree pentecostal services are tha bomb!! there is another church that i'm kinda goin to instead for a while, it is so awesome. near the end of the worship service there is like hardly anyone in their seats, everyone is up at the front jumping around, praising, some ppl with flags and these long stick used for different stuff, it's amazing it's like a miniature mosh pit! theres older ppl, kids, oh man totally amazing!:D

I didn't know what to do! lol I started clapping and ppl just stared at me lol. but yea there still cool:)

 Shouldn't you be sleeping?

:D Praise or more so worship is so exciting to me. Our church is small, and I have been to large churches, but we sing and raise our hands to God. The presence of His Spirit is often strong, but unfortuatly we are really the only young people in our church so there is no jumping or loud funky music. It keeps me happy though. Worship in our homegroup though is a different story. It is where we see the face of God, where we are free to worship as we please, and sing and shout as much as we want. Where the precesce of God is sometimes so strong you cry for the thought of leaving it breaks your heart. I think praise and worship is the most powerful way God can work on your heart.

It most definetly is!! yea there isn't much young people in our church either, theres is lil kids up there, elderly... they mostly just use flags.. it's not their strength it's Gods.. and there are all ages up at the front jumping around... you should really just give it a go man.. when the pressence of the Lord starts getting really strong just in the spirit go up there and jump around, no one will care they are off worship as well, and who knows there may be people joining you! It really is amazing:)

My church has rather loud, fun music... its all Vineyard worship music (I go to a Vineyard...), so occasionally I go to a friends church or something, and don't know half the songs :) ... We dance around, jump a bit... shout & holler... sometimes we have a big party... the spirit comes down and people are all over the place... People don't have flags, not because we're against them (I have several of my own at home... good fun :) ), but rather because we don't have room for them... we bought the church from a Seventh-Day Adventist church, so it was built for very calm services... no room whatsoever in the aisles (and the building came with pews, so we can't really fix that without getting new seating...), and the open space is taken up by dancers... if people brought flags in, we would be hitting eachother left and right!!! After worship (which lasts about 45 minutes...), we have a coffee break and a sermon, then we end with more worship... I love being able to worship twice in one service! :p
Sunday nights we have youth stuff down in the basement, and that gets even more crazy... they add a couple thousand more decibles of sound, and we worship with some serious intensity... Awesome dancing and jumping and fun stuff like that... good times...
I seriously don't know what I'd do without that wonderfully refreshing Charismatic worship... life wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable! :)

Much Love & Many Blessings...

My church will be doing things differently, but as for the church I attend now:

Three songs from our books, followed by prayer, communion, another prayer, and contribution. After this, one more song, followed by the main lesson, followed by announcements, another prayer, and 1-2 more songs. We don't use instruments or do the waving thing, just lift our voices to God :)

They do not call us “Church Done Different” for nothing.
We begin with a continental breakfast and fellowship, followed by 20-25 minutes of worship with contemporary (mostly Vineyard-type) music led by a band.
We sit at tables as well as use conventional seating (about 50/50).

Our dress is casual. Last Sunday (97°) I taught in a golf shirt, cargo shorts, and sandals.

At the end of worship we take a 7-10 minute coffee break for fellowship.

No offering is taken but baskets are provided throughout the auditorium for those who want to give. (I have noticed no change in the giving amount when we do it this way and it frees people from feeling constrained to give because a plate is passed under their nose).

Announcements call the people back to their seats.

A Life-Lesson (we choose not to use the word sermon) is taught from a music stand and stool.

The lesson ends with a formal benediction and an opportunity for those who need prayer to receive ministry from trained volunteer ministry teams.
We were told that we were too avant-garde and such a plan would never work but, as it turns out, after two years, we are the fastest growing church in town having outgrown our third venue and in hopes of purchaing our own facilities.
