JUST FYI and since we're being pedantic about this, the word, "therefore" is NOT in the Hebrew manuscripts. It ("therefore") was added by the translators of the KJV. Many other translations (such as the New American Standard Version, a very 'word for word' translation) don't have the word, "therefore" in that sentance.

Jan

Before God delivered me from WoF, I saw this many times and even did it, myself.

It's Unbiblical. The Bible says that worship should be both reverent and orderly. If people want to jump up and down, then they should go home and buy a trampoline.

Such histrionics don't belong in worship.

That is precisely how I feel sometimes! I am a very quiet person, but I cannot contain my praise. I've tried to clamp my hands over my mouth, I try to quench the spirit, but do you know what the Lord has done for me? I CAN'T CONTAIN MY PRAISE!

ALLELUIA!

(JUMPING UP AND DOWN)

Thank You Jesus!

I think the people here have proven it to be biblical by the Psalms they have quoted. Worship can be very active and lively.

The Bible says that worship should be both reverent and orderly.
Could you please show me in the Bible where jumping up and down in worship to God is condemned? If you can't then please stop judgeing people and their way of worship. Just because you believe that you can't show reverence to God by jumping up and down doesn't mean you should force that view upon anyone else.

And which Psalms do you believe teach jumping up and down?

As I've already pointed out, the Bible tells us that worship is to be orderly and reverent.

Just because you believe that you can't show reverence to God by jumping up and down doesn't mean you should force that view upon anyone else.

And under what possible definition of "reverent" is jumping up and down considered to be "reverent"?

Yes. I used to belong to a church like that in another state. I absolutely loved it when the whole room was worshipping God that way. Boy I miss that church.

If we feel moved to "hoot & holler" for a rock star.. or a football team.. How much more should be moved to give a jump & a shout for the King of Kings.. the Lord of Lords.. The Alpha & Omega?
That is what I was taught. God is more worthy than any of those others- of ALL our praise!

Yep. I personally do it a lot, as well as many others in my church.
Jack, you need to lighten up. Maybe have some Jack. (C'mon... it was a joke)

You give off the impression that it is wrong/weird/unbiblical/stupid to do "unusual" things in church. Like jumping up and down or getting lightheaded and stumbling a bit under the anointing and these such things. Now, I don't care what you say. But the impression of what you're saying is just that.

If one can/will jump up and down and cheer on their favorite hockey team and not get nearly that excited about Jesus, there might be something wrong. If I'm at a concert and I'm going crazy, singing and dancing, jumping and screaming because I am so in to the band, and then I'm in church and I just sit there with my eyes closed, well that just wouldn't be me. Some people do just sit and close their eyes. Nothing wrong with that. But those people are also likely to just sit and watch the game instead of really get into it.

Basically, if you get more excited over a stupid game than Jesus, something isn't right. That's just odd. Things can be descent and in order even if people get excited. No one's getting hurt or causing any trouble. What is the harm?

If I came to your church and jumped up and down and fell over "drunk" in the Spirit, what would you do? Kick me out?

Oh, and, by the way... "Moshing" isn't jumping up and down. It is to run into everyone usually in the middle of people encircling you. I've yet to see this at a church.

We wouldn't kick you out, but we would counsel you.

If it became disruptive and you refused to stop, then we would consider removing you.

Counsel me for what? Being excited about Jesus? Even if it wasn't bothering anyone and it wasn't hurting anyone?

No. For engaging in the Unbiblical practice of "being slain in the spirit".

Even if it wasn't bothering anyone and it wasn't hurting anyone?

Whether it's bothering anyone or hurting anyone isn't the point. The point is whether or not such practices are justifiable from scripture.

So I'm worshiping God in Spirit and in Truth, with all of my heart, body and soul, and this is unbiblical? I've not ready ANYWHERE in the Bible where it tells us what to do during worship. God's never said anything about being quiet and still. He just said worship in Spirit and in Truth.

If you want perfect order, go to a graveyard. That's the only place you'll find the kind of order you're looking for.

Since when are WOF and jumping considered one in the same???????

Do only WOF people jump?

I know a lot of conservative WOFers who don't jump, at all.

You make WOF sound like some terrible disease one needs to be delivered from.

For someone so intent on people getting their facts straight, and to not judge, gossip or spread rumors, you should be careful not to be so broad-stroked in your descriptions.

If it is Unbiblical, then it is, by definition, not worshipping in spirit and in truth.

Funny, they managed to do it in the NT. They managed to do it for nearly the first 2,000 years of the church. Most churches still manage just fine.
