  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Worship Leader: Do you use a rotation method?

Heya! well I will address a few of those questions haha!

No, per say, I dont think we use a rotation method. All the songs are always backed in prayer and we pray that the Holy Spirit would guide us into what songs He would have us do each service.

As for rotating new songs in... what we'll do is, we like to add one new song about every month. The way we do this is we will play the song usually in the beginning or the offering part of the service... this way people can become familiar with the tune and read the words. Then next service we will play it again, but do it in the worship part of service. Cuz then they've heard it, but then can begin to get familliar with it. Then the following service and then the 4th service they usually pick it up pretty fast and so now, Wallah! the congregation knows the song :D haha it worx pretty well for us.

As for songs we sing too much or too little uhm... Like I said before, I really trust the Holy Spirit to guide us in the direction of which songs he would like played, so that really helps in which songs to do or not to do... But there are some songs where we've accidentally played them for like 3 months straight and now its like blah Hahaha.. so I think you can recognize when you're way overplayin a song.... and when u are underplayin a song, a lot of times someone in the congregation might say "ya know, I really liked that song.. it'd be great if you think we could do it some more!" :D hehe

but thats about it! hehehe be blessed! †

right well.....we wok on pretty much the same principle. ill take the theme and try to think of songs that fit in with it, going around a bit of praise and meditation time too. ill always ask God to be with the song selection process so that i get something that people in the congregatino will like - cos god knows n all.

we dont rotate, we have a large amount of songs, but try not to do the same ones all the time. we have the more familiar ones that we do do more often, but then we will link in some newer ones, to get them more familiar with them. agauin much like the above we will play them eithe r just the band as meditiation or ill sing a verse first to get them used to it. we try to incorperate some new stuff into the services though.

What we try to do is introduce a new song every two weeks. If all goes well or if the group seems to like it then we will do it again soon.

Having a large amount of songs helps with the selection process- chances are you won't pick the same ones every month much less every week. Our favorite hymns combined with the praise and worship and more comtemporary style music, I have over 200 songs to choose from. The hard part is getting a good combo of fast, slow, medium paced songs.

So yeah, have a good selection and then always be on the lookout for new songs. If you haven't of these people look into them and then find others like them: Passion, Waterdeep, 100 Portraits (Enter the Worship Circle), Shane and Shane.

These guys produce mass amounts of good songs to sing.

Also, don't throw away songs too quickly, even if they seem old or no good. Keep them and try in month or two. Sometimes it is just timing when introducing a new song.
