  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi!
Currently, I'm working on a project for the ministry I work for, we're hosting a retreat themed around "Global Community." The focus is essentially on how, though our brothers and sisters come from different backgrounds, cultures or countries, in Christ we have community, unity and family. Until now, our Sunday worship at this retreat has been very traditionally western. Usually with one or two hymns and one or two contemporary songs, followed by a reading of a prayer or scripture and a message from our chaplain.

We would love to incorporate worship practices from around the world, to get a sense of how our traditions aren't the only ones, or that one outline of corporate worship isn't the only way to do it. I've done some research but would love to hear first hand input. So, if you have knowledge or experience with non-American/Western worship experiences please share! And if you can, cite a place where I can learn more about implementing those practices.

Thanks so much!!

Hi; good to see you on the forums; is Canada 'exotic' enough to be included in your survey? :)

Remember that up here a lot of the hymns will be sung in French.

This is one I have often sung up here.
