  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Month-end reports -- are they a last-day-of-the month or a first-day-of-the-month requirement for you? Or are you one of the lucky sods who doesn't have to compile them?

They're theoretically a last-day phenomenon here, so you can see I'm running a bit behind. One of my goals for 2008 is to get more on top of routine reporting. For one thing, the more organized I am at the office, the easier it is to "swap hats" and change back into mother-mode at the end of the day. Today, not being on top of things, I was up and logging in at 4:30 a.m. to get a jump on the work-week. I'm so glad I have a teenager who's competent to make the family breakfast!

The doctor told me today that he thinks a lot of my pain is from stress. The stress in my life has me so tense that it is cause my muscles to tighten and cause more pain.

Please pray for me. I really don't want to go back to that job. Please pray that God opens the door for me to get a better job.
I will most definitely pray for you! I can relate to both situations stress and job...I was getting these horrible tension headaches in my neck and had to get a Rx med to work on them. The doc said they are most likely caused by emotional stress and the physical stress of being on the phone/computer at work all day.

I also pray your pain goes away too!

My youngest dd is in kindergarten this year. I was a sahm for the past 8 years and have been working part time at a dept store since Nov.
I just applied online for a teaching job with the school district my children are in.
I previously taught middle school for 13 years in two other school districts.
I will have to update my resume.
I am kind of nervous about it.
I have taught the Jr. High girls at my church and am now teaching High School girls at church and I also plan my church Bible Camp so I have been doing some sort of teaching over the years.
I don't even know what to put on my resume.

I am not a resume expert by any means, but definitely include your time teaching in the Church...that is really work (whether you are paid for it or not)..and it most defintely counts....also include your past experience in the actual schools.

I actually think it will look good that you had all those years of experience, even if there is a gap due to raising kids. After all, there are teachers out there applying for jobs with NO experience.

Well, I don't have to go back. They fired me for working from home when I am off on workers comp. I wasn't working, I was just answering emails or forwarding them to make sure that someone was handeling them.

I don't care that I am not there anymore, but I am upset that I won't have insurance as of April 1.

I am having neck surgery on Thursday of next week. So, I won't be looking for a job until summer.

I'm so sorry to hear that....especially about the no insurance part. :( Praying for you about the whole situation, especially the surgery.

That's terrible, can they do that??? Just making sure somebody was taking care of your work isn't working if you ask me!

Praying that God has something much better in store for you. :prayer:

Well I can say it isn't right. Or at least I don't think it is. We live in a right to work state though and they can fire you for anything.

God is in control though. He is going to provide for me to be able to afford my cobra and workers comp is going to pay me. So everything is going to be good in the name of Jesus.

Now I have a new issue. I just got a call about a job. It is like one of my dream jobs. It is at a plant, close to home working with mostly men. Much better than the job I just lost, except it pays $2.50 an hour less, but with gas cost and the cost of playing dress up everyday it would work out.

The bad thing is how do I have the surgery next week and take a job.

Hmmm, how long is the recovery from the surgery going to take?

I live in one of those "right to work" states (FL). What a misnomer! More like "Right to fire". I absolutely hate it. Employers treat their employees like garbage, constantly bullying. It's much more different than the other state I lived in (IL) which is not like that.

Anyway, I hope it will all work out....even if you can't take this other job now because of the surgery, maybe there will be something else available when you have recovered?
(hugs)

Working moms stay busy, lol.

I am going back to work Monday. Two months from the day of my accident at work. Not sure that I can actually sit in an office 40 hours a week and it does scare me.

I don't know if I should just keep getting my disability and stay home and have the surgery or if I should work. I am scared!!!!!!

Then I am scared to have the surgery because if something goes wrong, I have no one to help me.

I was offered this job i am scared ot pass up. They called me not me calling them. They found my resume on Monster.com and knew that I had some experience with a program that not a lot of people have used.

It is where I want to be and it is what I want to be doing. It is ina a plant, steel toe boots and a hard hat, not suits and high heals.

Hello Ladies,

I am sure I found a place where you all know how I feel. I just went back to work after maternity leave, and I am having such a hard time! Hannah is almost 7 weeks old, and she is staying home with my husband while he tries to start a home business. He is a great dad, but I still worry about her all day long, and I miss her terribly. How did you guys get through this time?

You are very lucky that he is home with her. That has to be much easier than leaving her a in a daycare.

I cried the first three weeks after I left Taylor. It got easier with time for me. Then I would get to where I would be so excited to come home to see her because her little face would light up so much when she would see me. I can still see that look today and it has been almost 10 years.

I pray that God gives you peace to make it through this time.

I love "Mommy's home! Mommy's home!" and the hug waiting for me, sometimes before I even get out of the car--he runs out of the house and greets me in the driveway if the weather's nice. Otherwise, it's right inside the door, even before I get a chance to set down my purse and the backpack I take to work. My husband's a stay at home dad too.

That is the most awesome feeling. It makes your day worth it no matter how hard it was.

hello working mums:wave:

I am hoping for a few tips and some shared experiences. I'm expecting now and I'm not going to be working outside the home, but I intend to return to part time study at about 4 weeks postpartum. That's less than two months away now and I'm beginning to feel a little nervous.:sorry: I will have to travel 2 hours away two days a week and my family are going to help me care for my little one while I study. ANY tips would be greatly appreciated.
Although I know I CAN do this, I think it's going to be tough and I don't want to set myself up for failure.

Donnabing, how are you finding work away from your little one now? Bubs is now about 3 months?
