  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is fun actually, I only have 9 kids assigned to my bus. I drive a special ed bus, or "short bus" as it is typically known as.

My district still had school, so I still had to work.
The short hours and being home with the kids has to be nice.

Wow! Ok, so maybe I could last for more than an hour...I don't know if I could physically drive that big bus though...

Laura

It isn't really all that hard to do, just like driving a really big SUV, LOL. I think it took me about 3 times out to get the hang of it.

So, I officially work in the most unprofessional office! Tuesday morning one of my coworkers comes to the aisle between my cube and the lady across from mine to share what I can only imagine in her mind was interesting news to both of us and consequently the whole department since she is blessed with a loud voice and no shame. Her “news” is that over the weekend she and her 14yo daughter went to the gynecologist….which please kill me right here. At this point, I’m too speechless to stop her, so she proceeds to tell us how the doctor has determined that her daughter is still going through puberty and is too young still for a yearly exam. Ooookaaaaaaaaaaayyy? This is something to be shared at the office? That your daughter isn’t ready for a pelvic???? Am I in hell? I just sat there staring at her. What should my response be to this kind of news I wonder? I’m at a total loss here! Immediately after she walks away, I get 2 IMs from others in the department (one was a man!!) sharing their equal disgust!! I’ve had to put up with a whole lot of unprofessional and non-pc garbage at this place (from her most especially), but this was just beyond them all!!

Unfortunately, no amount of talking to her or complaining to anyone would do any good. I’ve tried, others have tried, no one gets in trouble for anything around here and it’s impossible to get fired. And she just wouldn’t get it anyway….I just needed to get it out is all.

I can't even imagine who, in their right mind, would think that a GYN visit is appropriate office conversation. Oh my, I can feel your discomfort over that from here.

Luckily, I work for mostly men, and because they are in class all day, I don't actually have to deal with them.

I am having a nasty, horrible week at work.

So, it's been practices, homework, dinner, trying to get some working out done, the regular routine every night. So the only time I actually get any peace lately is in the shower in the morning. Well, this morning, I do not know WHAT my kids could have done to make my husband so angry, but I am halfway through rinsing my hair, and he starts flipping out. I mean, swearing, yelling. I panic, thinking something bad happened, and am yelling "what's wrong". He kept saying nothing, but something had to be wrong for him to flip out like that.

By the time I rinsed off and got out, everything seemed ok, and when I asked him, he said it was fine now. But that started my day off awful, and now I am all stressed out. I mean he was yelling like he yells at his Marines who get arrested or something over long weekends. It was really loud.

So I wasn't able to prepare myself for my sucky day at work, and this day is going to bite.

Thanks for letting me vent :sigh:

ROFL...I'm sorry to laugh, I would have been very unimpressed if it had been me but as an outsider I find it quite a funny story *dodges tomatoes* :sorry:

It's really not great working with people who love to share every details of their personal lives. Maybe you should pray that she gets a nice job offer elsewhere.

Hey everyone, I was really sick last week and this week I have been busy. I haven't been on much. Just wanted to drop in and say hi.

 Hope you're feeling better now.

Thank you thank you thank you. That made my day. I love it.

The place I work is crazy to, but nothing like that. It is just crazy. We have the princess who is the CEO's assistant. Then the peace maker who is the COO's assistant. Then me who wants to make everyone else happy and doesn't have time to do her own job because she is trying to make everyone like her who is the CFO's assistant.

We had pizza one Friday my first couple weeks here to celebrate my boss getting "fixed". That was real comfortable talk that day.

Ok...eww!! That's just creepy and gross! It's things like these that make me wonder when exactly our privates became office chit chat??

I don't mind you all laughing at my rant. It really is funny even if it was uncomfortable and beyond TMI! I do feel a bit sorry for her because for whatever reason, this place is her life. She's been here too long to ever leave and there aren't any other areas for her to go so, I'm stuck but only until this summer when I leave myself. Until then, I'll continue to rant here since it makes so many people's days!! :D

hehehehe

we always talk about more in depth stuff than that...

my boss is currently pregnant *due in March*

we end up talking about all sorts of "non work appropriate" stuff

:D The difference might be that you consider yourself friends and that it's conversation that's shared and not just stuff dumped on you, you know? She and I are definitely not friends. I have friends at work who chat with me about personal things *in confidence* not standing in the aisle at a near shout!!

Question - are you proud of the fact that you work?
Well, if you mean the work I do outside the home...no, I'm not really proud...my job is more of a necessary means of income than a means of defining who I am...it doesn't really make me feel any different about myself as a person...in my personal situation I see my job as a job and not a career.

Hope this makes sense...I'm tired from..my job.

Lol, that would make me feel weird. My department is entirely women and I just can't imagine our team in that type of celebration situation...but we are pretty much private people...
