  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone have a problem with guilt about working extra?

Moreso with going to school, too. My 5yo will complain sometimes that all I ever do is study and that makes me feel bad since I'm already at work all day and then have to study when I'm home. I do try and get most of my studying done during down times at work so I can free up my evenings for them. I'm going to school so I can get a better job that will give me more flexible hours so I can be with my family more. I really have to keep focused on what my goal is and that helps.

I understand. I cannot wait until God puts me in a positino to go back to school again. I just feel incomplete in my work realm. Not that I dont' love my job, I just think there is more out there for me.

Oops, note on the Coke roast. Use one 12-ounce can of Coke or Pepsi.

I don't know why, but diet cola doesn't work in this recipe.
That is because the sugar is a tenderizer. Without it, you don't get the same affect.

And yes, I had and still have guilt over work hours. My youngest will be 16 tomorrow, and the guilt still hasn't gone away.

Goodness yes. At my last job, I would work until 9-10 at night. I would send my assistant to go get Taylor from school. Then the poor baby would have to come sit in the office with me for hours.

I can't tell you how many times she fell asleep in the conference room.

There were many days that her and my assistant would go to the movies or go get their nails done just so she would not be stuck at the office. Needless to say both of them loved that.

I promised Taylor when I got this job I would not be married to it. If I am not in the car by 4:30 she calls just a fussing, you promised!

Glad you started this thread, I'd like tips too! I have two boys ages 6 3/4 (LOL) and 8 (going on 14).I also have a bird, a cat and our little girl I never had (which is our Boston Terrier pup). Single handedly handling all of the crew and working full time isn't easy.My house keeps some semblance of order btu there's alwasy things on the to do list that never get done-mainly the organizing paperwork things...I finally got to the closests but now it's filling up again. Paperwork, schoolwork, dog toys everywhere LOL. I do find downtime once the kids are in bed, I'll spruce up the kitchen/living room and throw a load of laundry and sit my rear on the sofa to watch TV or get online here. I could be doing the organizing then but I just don't feel like it.I work as an account executive for an airline, pays not excellent but been here a logn time. This next year I get 4wks vacation finally (that is if I survive the next re-org we all know that stress). I also travel about once a month on average, sometimes more, sometimes less, overnights only every couple of months maybe. My mom stays w/the kids. My biggest issue, there's always a semi-unpacked toiletry case or suitcase in my room/bathroom lol...why bother? I get the downtime every other wknd when kids are w/their dad, but it normally consists of cleaning up, or errands...then I'll visit or go out w/some friends Sat night, or watch lifetime or Netflix movies all day Sunday...try to get my relax time then.

Laurie919--look into foster care. What got me was a radio ad, a teenage girl's voice saying "I've never had Christmas at Grandma's". We didn't think they'd accept us because of my husband's medical issues, but they did. Our son came to us as a foster child at 16 months old. He was supposed to be with us "only 2 or 3 weeks". That was almost 3 1/2 years ago.

Yes, I get the guilts too, for my odd working hours and sometimes overtime or travel for continuing training for my job. But I know I have to do it--it's my way of taking care of my family. It feels a little weird sometimes. I don't know any other families with a working mom and stay at home dad.

overit--travel a lot? We have to, too. We came up with a permanently packed "bathroom bag". We duplicated everything we use--toothbrushes, shampoo, hairbrush, etc. Then we just grab and go. We keep all medicine in a plastic toolbox, so that's grab and go too. My son was diagnosed with leukemia a couple years ago and we had a suitcase that was never put away for a year. We just came home, took out the dirty laundry, and repacked it. BTW, my son is doing very well. He's a tough little rascal.

I am a school bus driver, and don't really feel bad about my hours, as I get to spend the off hours with my girls, and can even take the oldest with me on the bus.
That must be nice, but I think I would go crazy on a bus with all of those kids.

I have OFF tomorrow *happy dance* and so does my husband *more happy dance*

Being a teacher definitely has its perks (like Martin Luther King Jr day!)

Whoo hoo!!!
I took the day off. I emailed for a sick day. The only thing that is sick about me is that I am sick of my job.

That isn't completely true. I don't feel great, but I think it is the stress of going to that place.

It is fun actually, I only have 9 kids assigned to my bus. I drive a special ed bus, or "short bus" as it is typically known as.

My district still had school, so I still had to work.
