  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you worked outside the home while being pregnant, did you work get affected negatively? Did it cause you problems and how did you deal?

I do two morning shifts where I start at 7:30 and with the morning sickness and tiredness, I'm not efficient at all. I had to leave early today because I threw up and felt totally exhausted... But thank God I have an awesome boss and coworkers who totally understand.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Pregasaurus. I hope it clears up for you once and for all soon!

Green Orchid, I think it's great that your boss is so understanding. My boss was also very understanding when I was nauseas pretty much all morning for about eight weeks. Bleah. I'm a preschool teacher, so thankfully I'm home by 1PM and I crash and sleep for an hour or two. Now things are much better.

I didn't really have much "morning" sickness with this one so far (knock on wood) was a little nausious the first few weeks after finding out, but I may have thrown up about 5 times total...
my manager right now keeps looking at me and asking if I am ok, if I need anything... (single no kids) I just tell her I am fine... my husband keeps muttering about my hour sand how if she was realy concerned that she would go a little easier on me with my hours... I love my husband... he is insiting that once the baby get here I go part time...
with Robert I threw up a lot the first few months, but it was mostly at about 3 am...
other than being tired all the time and short tempered (not sure if that is from being tired or from the hormones) I really haven't had many problems at work

I worked part-time outside the home watching two boys, 6 and 2.

I stopped working at 30 weeks when I was put on bed rest.

At 22 weeks, I stopped taking them to the park because the 2 year old thought it was funny to climb up higher than I could get him. I also made him walk more and his mum says it made him more mature.

One time I fell asleep! I couldn't believe that I did. I felt so horrible, good thing the mom of the boys understood.

Hope the morning sickness goes away for you ladies, really soon.

Morning sickness was never a big problem for me, I only threw up for a week or 2, and not even every day so I was very fortunate (my mom was sick all 9 months with all 3 kids..I'm glad I didn't have a pregnancy like hers). It did, however, effect the amount of work that I could do. I work in a shoe store and I did pretty much everything there is to do excpet for certain paper work and closing the store..but while I was pregnant, I couldn't lift, I couldn't climb, I couldn't bend over, and I couldn't stand for long periods of time, my doctor wanted me to sit down for 10 minutes every hour because at my job you're not allowed to sit down unless you're on break( one 15 minute break and 1 hour break if you work over 6 hours)..and sometimes I would be working 7-9 hour shifts, so it really took a toll on my back but it didn't really effect my pregnancy or my job..I stayed til I was around 30 weeks, then i took my maternity leave from school and in doing that I had to take it from work too.

if you have a note from your dr saying you need to sit down that often there is nothing they can do about it... that I am aware of...
I work as a CSA... did with Robert as well... with Robert the doctor wrote me a note so I could sit down often, and wear tennies... so they put a chair beside the counter so that when there wasn't a lot of customers I could go sit down for a bit

I work full time - and i commute nearly an hour each way.

It has been awful for the last 8 weeks. Only my boss knows that i am preggers at the moment and she is really understanding but i have dragged myself into work everyday because there is so much work and i know that if i don't come in people will complaine.

I don't think that my work has suffered but i have. I've felt worse because of having to get up early (6-6.30am) and i've not been home until 5pm when it's too late to have a nap.

I know that it is my choice that i've come into work while i've been feeling bad but i can't really cope with the bad comments that would be aimed at my by certain other staff that i work with.

I am so glad that i almost feel normal again and i'm 12 weeks on Friday so from then onwards people at work will start to find out
