So, I just got a new job this week. It's fine, I guess. Better than nothing. It pays well and the benefits are good, but it has 12 hour shifts.

Everyone I talked to suggest I stick with it because of the pay and I have no marketable skills. I see their reasoning, I get that money is important, but I also value a work-life balance.

When I tried to explain that, I'm told that I don't really do anything anyway because I'm very introverted. Maybe they have a point?

Don't get me wrong, we all gotta work, that's just how society works. I just feel like I'm living to work rather than working to live.

I'm not a millennial but it is hard to find the work-life balance for anyone, especially when you are younger. I think you just need to set some realistic goals about your career and what you want in terms of lifestyle and try to get the skills and experience that will make them happen. To some often that will mean sacrificing the present to have gains for the long term. That means saving and investing in yourself. Sounds like you do not have a silver spoon, so you have to achieve more on your own to get anywhere. Ask God to give you wisdom, and put Him first and you for sure will be successful.
Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

If you do things right, you may have to be in that job for only 5 to 10 years and then retire after that.

Once you retire, you'll have all the time to do anything you want. You can even sleep all day for all I care.

Doing things right means saving up money that you can use later on to start a business, or setting some money aside to put into investment.

Do that instead of getting an expensive mortgage or buying a new car you don't really need when the old one is perfectly meeting all your needs.
