I was watching a short sermon on YouTube to start my day (waking up) and God gave me a word that I've not looked at another angle before:

Exodus 20:7

There's another way to take His name in vain and not just by taking His name as a curse word. When Jesus said: Matthew 7:21-23 This shows another way of taking His name in vain. Doing all these things in His name, but not keeping His commandments.

What's interesting is that these two verses almost mirror each other exactly (numerically)! Thanks God! :yellowheart:

Not a coincidence by any stretch. HE intended it to mirror that.

In fact, the “taking God’s name in vain” being associated with swearing is a relatively modern invention. It was traditionally understood (certainly by first century Jews) to mean saying something was from God when it was not.

Your senses were absolutely right on with that.

Wow, I knew nothing about that. Thanks for sharing! :yellowheart:
There is such power in His name, so to me using it as a curse is also a way of taking His name in vain - which is what I only thought of for the longest time. It's so cool how God speaks to us!

God showed me something this morning. I always wondered what Jesus meant by being born of water and Spirit: John 3:5 Because it's always been ingrained in me that it was a physical thing since childhood. Something that is taught by man that has been very hard to break. Until now.

I asked in spirit and He showed me this: John 4:13-14
John 7:37-38
