  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Woot! Great news!

Hubby and I are considering adoption!! I am soo excited, this is something I've felt called to do nearly all my life!! Granted it will be a while before we're ready, we live in a two bedroom-one bathroom trailer, but we're talking. lol Sorry, I'm just soo excited!! Oops! I said that already.

Anyway, I will gladly accept any advice anyone wants to offer!! I want to adopt an older child, but hubby wants a baby or toddler. I'm trying to explain that the older children are not "all messed up" so he can make a more informed decision. If he still wants to adopt a baby-toddler that's okay, as long as it's not because of a wrong idea.

If you are thinking of adopting especially an older child you really need to consider what you are getting yourself into. When many people adopt they go into with the attitude that love is all a child needs and that is a very blind way of thinking so to speak. Many older children who are adopted from foster care suffer from RAD which is Reactive Attachment Disoder where they basically have no emotions or feelings like a normal attached person would. This sometimes leads to psychopathic behavior or the child not being able to function in a family setting and being placed in a residential treatment facility where they can get the round the clock care they need. I'm not trying to scare you out of adoption but coming from a family of 10 adopted kids you need the honest truth of what you could be getting into. Here are some good blogs I reccomend that give you an honest truth of what its like to raise adopted older children many who suffer from RAD and other attachment issues.
