Anyone here do cabinetry, make furniture, do-dads, do-hickeys, childrens toys, scrollsaw or otherwise? I'd love to network with other woodworkers to share ideas, tricks of the trade and how to stack those router bits correctly to get the raised panel frames to fit better.

Projects completed so far (not in any particular order)

Grandfather Clock, Pennsylvania Cherry (1 - from a kit - sold to a co-worker)
Corner Curio Cabinet, Pennsylvania Cherry (1 - from a kit - wedding present for my wife)
Baby's Crib, Maple, Red Oak (plans only and hardware kit for our adopted newborn)
Baby's Changing Table, Red Oak (Plans only and hardware kit for our adopted newborn)
Treasure Chest Toy Box, 2-Pine, 1-Maple (3 - plans only, sold one, kept one for the baby, gifted one to nephews)
Headboard, Maple, Red Oak - (1 - no plans, made this for my son's bed)
Chessboard, Poplar, Cherry, Pine (1 - no plans, gift for my son)
Rocking Dino, Pine (1 - plans, gifted to nephew)
Several Scroll saw projects, in pine, cherry, gumwood, poplar etc... from a Tiger's head to people's names and decorative wall hangings including Welcome signs (Several sold, 1 stolen, many gifted to family & friends)
Turned Pens (2 so far, one for myself, one for my wife)
Turned Candlesticks, 2 Padauk, 1 Basswood, 1 Poplar - 2 for my wife, 1 gifted to my inlaws, 1 on display in my office.
Bicycle racks (2 in the garage to put the bicycles flat against the ceiling - plans only)
Wind Chimes (plans only)

Current projects:
Bar: (No Plans) framed in pine, cabinets are Black Walnut, Top is Tiger Maple with inlaid walnut strips and interior shelves are birch plywood. To complete: stain the shelves, cut - rout and add molding around the top, sand the top down and apply a resin finish to the top. The walnut cabinets came out very nice.

Grandfather Clock: (Plans only so far) Purpleheart (maybe a little harder but similar to Black Walnut for working purposes, but seems to splinter easier. Naturally violet in color - burn marks from saw blades are a deep purple). Base pieces are cut and mostly routed. Raised panel looks ok from the front but the frame around it didn't assemble well due to the stacking issues with the router bit. 2 of the 4 spindles for the top assembly are turned and came out rather well.

Future Projects: (the honeydo list - in no particular order) Dining room Hutch & Cabinets, bookshelves, game table (chess, checkers, backgammon, cribbage), small childrens toys including a pedal car, rocking motorcycle, pedal airplane, small toy cars, trains & trucks, chessboard with case & drawers, cedar chest, jewelry boxes, pen & pencil sets, Bedroom Suite including head & foot boards, Dining Table, planters, 2 hope chests... it goes on and on... :help:

Hi Hook,

My dad is a skilled amateur cabinet-maker with a pretty decent workshop. I'd like to get into furniture-making, but I just don't have the physical space for a shop right now. Instead, I work mostly with light metals like brass and aluminum, and plastics. I have done a few small wood items: a few pens, a couple of jewelry boxes, a watch pendant, etc. Doll-house and jewelry boxes are a really practical way to learn joinery techniques, and I'm hoping the skills will scale up.

I'll try to find a couple of project pictures and post them.
