Wondering if band is Satanic?

Hi, I'm a thrash-metal-head and I have a question about a band called Slayer. I know they have a pentagram in their logo, but I want to know if that's to just shock people or if they're satanist. Being into Heavy and Thrash Metal, I must question lots of bands that would cause me to be judged before the almighty. Because in an interview they have said "No. People thought we were serious!...back then you had that PMRC, who literally took everything to heart, when in actuality you're trying to create an image. You're trying to scare people on purpose." And denied being satanist, but they find the subject of Satanism interesting and says "we are all on this planet to learn and experience."

They've said many times over the years that they don't practice Satanism, but that doesn't mean that they don't "invoke" negative things with their lyrics.

If you suspect that a band is promoting bad things, odds are good they are.

Well if Slayer isn't a satanist band, then I don't know who is.

Tom Araya is a christian, far as I know. I think they're using satanism for the shock value only but that's enough reason for me not to listen to them. It's mostly Kerry King who's doing that satanic crap in Slayer.
