Two Israeli Embassy staffers shot dead outside D.C.'s Capital Jewish Museum

The American Jewish Committee had been hosting an event at the Capital Jewish Museum aimed at bridge-building in the Middle East and North Africa. Lischinsky and Milgrim had exited the event when they were fatally shot around 9 p.m., according to Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, who shared news of the couple’s pending engagement.​

A man who had been pacing back and forth outside the museum approached a group of four people and opened fire using a handgun, Washington Police Chief Pamela Smith said.​

It's sad, to me, that the first mention of this crime is nothing to do with condolences for the two embassy staffers that lost their lives -- instead is an attempt to somehow score political points. There is not even any sort of real mention of the two that lost their lives, and condolences or regret that they were murdered.

I'm sorry, I have a hard time forcing politics into a pair of murders that are insane, as if somehow killing the two will help Gaza, and instead feel we should honor those that lost their lives.

I heard that the young lady who was murdered graduated from the University of Kansas and in her Hillel group she worked for Palestinian rights and Palestinian statehood. Like most Jews she was kind, Progressive, and supportive of Human Rights. I am sure her fiance was as well. It is tragic that this happened. We all need to stop looking at labels and consider that everyone is an individual loved by God. On the other hand I heard the Israeli ambassador to the United States speaking.
