Wives in the workplace? Well, I most certainly hope so!

I don't think using the Bible to make the argument that women should stay home and tend to the house fits at all with.. well.. anything.

While I know my mom would have loved to have stayed home and raise my brother and I, she felt that being able to do little things, such as put food on the table and make sure we had clothes and a house, would have to come first. In a perfect world, neither man nor woman would have to go to work. We'd all sit around, raising the kids and bonding and the like. Unfortunatly we can't. So off to work with the lot of ya!

Hee hee, besides, if my future wife didn't work, how would I be a house husband? ;)

Hi,

I know about the biblical clarity on wives role in marriage, i.e. the concepts of submission to their
husband, that the husband should be the spiritual leader, etc.
I'm not convinced that the Bible mandates for the man to be the spiritual boss. It makes more sense to me to have a system of co-leadership.

But I am curious if there are any biblical references to the issue of who should be the financial
provider for the family. Does the bible ever specify whether the husband should be the bread winner,
or is this just a custom of culture?
As some have correctly pointed out, refer to Proverbs 31.

How does this all relate to the massive numbers of women (and wives) that are currently entering
the workforce?
As long as the family can make it work, the children are not forgotten, and the woman is entering the workforce out of genuine desire, I see nothing wrong with it.

thanks,
mt
No problem. :)
