I'm too busy contacting the Illuminati to figure out why I never got a raise. Is anyone planning on visiting the new Harry Potter theme area at Universal Studios Hollywood? The grand opening was yesterday, and my little sisters were lucky enough to go after school and have a superbly magnificent time. Even my parents loved it. I cannot wait to check it out!

goodbook said:CS lewis, I read actually was an atheist before he became a christian and did dabble in the occult, which is why he wrote lion witch and wardrobe and knew a lot about them...witches that is. In that book, its a witch not a wizard, thats the star of the story as it were.
Except Harry Potter was completely made up in someone's mind. There is no connection to real-life witchcraft. There is no connection to Satan. The words they use and their abilities were COMPLETELY made up and have no bearing on the real world.
So I think there is a major difference between enjoying a fictional movie and getting involved in real witchcraft.
Why are Wiccans then saying Harry Potter novels have boosted interest in witchcraft.

I dislike and am saddened by the prideful and disdainful attitudes I see on the forums. Lack of discernment, humility and criticism arising from ignorance of men of God like CS Lewis by some posters. As bad company may corrupt people of good character, so proud lukewarm and disdainful christians are best avoided by those who love Jesus.
Reckon my support of the website at an end, and the responsibility for sorting the mess back where it belongs. I won't be posting here any more.

Sorry, I'm not a Harry Potter fan but the statement that the Harry Potter Fad is over is twice false. It was and is far more than a fad and even those who actively dislike it (I do not fall into that set either) who are honest hardly say it is over.
It has been a long time since I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe but my recollection is the Witch did not get all that much screentime. More than the Wardrobe and the streetlamp, but not much more.
Its not really something one can gauge whether it is over, so it wouldn't say what she said was 'blatantly false', as its died down a bit at least hasn't it? It will continue with its loyal supporters I suppose for a while, but all the hype it had behind it is over. If people read Harry Potter I don't care very much. I'd have never thought of starting a thread against it.
I joined in to explain my views on the differences between Tolkien, Lewis, Rowling and others. Not disputing she has some writing skill, and most likely never intended kids to get interested in actual occult activities.
But I find Tolkien and Lewis, provide a more authentic vision of good versus evil, than Rowling.
I don't understand the OP, except that she now wants to keep clear of anything with witches in it, and that's fine. Not everyone likes fantasy anyway. But as she seems to want to read and seems to rule out a lot for herself, I don't think she is getting all that from God - neither should she be ruling it out for others who can read and discern literary themes.
I don't think the Harry Potter books are rotten to the core - others see good points in them but I dislike that they may inculcate an elitist and somewhat narcissistic 'poor misunderstood me' mindset in more vulnerable kids.
Oh? I suspect its about as popular then as Donald Duck still is, and people who enjoy being surrounded by kids zapping them with pretend wands will no doubt love their visit to it.
