Then the problem is not free speech but the people incapable of acting civilly, who take offense rather than possess reason.

If people could let other people believe what they want to believe,
instead of trying to make the whole world... into one ________

Do "they" feel weak or threatened if not everyone thinks what they think?
Do they seriously NEED to "get group support"... for some unknown-to-me reason?
Is Reason--like you say--the problem with them... or rather the lack thereof?
What happened to them that they lost the ability to reason?

wow... looking back on this... I'm seeing just how right your OP video is.

Consider the affects on the 40 and under who grew up under a system that taught them there was no one better or worse, no winners and losers, yet in real life when someone disagrees with them they don't know how to handle it. Reasoning, even on the playground, was lost to them. Rights became the trend rather than acting responsibly. Somehow along the way rights came to mean my way only and spawned the me generation. Add to that the internet where suddenly a person could collect likes for tales of personal persecution and soon we had a minority who thought, as it did seem from focussed interaction, that they were a world wide majority (but realistically only on the net). A digital movement of self interest unlike the movements of the past.

Fallen Angel 2, the Human Sequel

OK... I don't get it. Are you still talking transhumanism? Ever seen the TV series Revolution? If syfy writing for TV is anything like it is for syfy books... these guys spend some time learning what's possible. When tptb takes down the binary-code-bucks, nations will head for the place that ordered the hit... and they won't be coming in airplanes.

I've been thinking about this, too. How even for showing up, you get a medal. Don't want to make the people who aren't good at that one thing feel bad... regardless of how it makes the people who ARE good at it... feel about the effect that sort of ideology has upon their duly-earned-award. That's the thing isn't it? Because not everybody is good at every thing. So being punished for what didn't show up in your DNA... sorta seems like the definition of cruel.

Add to that the very real effects of when and where you were born. Yeah... I know what people think about prognostication... but this ain't that. Like it or not, Astrology works. So if you don't want people to know who you really are, don't give them your birthdate and place. BUT ALL this information is available to tptb... they knew what made you tick from birth. So the best thing you can do is keep learning and growing and changing. Sorta like never taking the same route home every day, or shopping in the same stores, buying the same food, etc.,... at least don't make it so darned easy for them.

So, I wonder if Reasoning was ever really universal. Because it seems like Civilization is a very new and very thin veneer for some people. If all people were the same, their responses would be the same. Unlike in the movie Divergence, people don't really have to be divided into factions... they do that naturally. Don't we all judge what people will-do/have-done by the rationale we use for ourselves? Isn't that why we hang out with people who are like us? Because if we try to impose our rationale on people NOT like us, there'll be war 24/7.

We see that on this forum. Because people are different, they think different things about God. Some are Reasonable, some Mystical... and never the twain shall meet. The best that you can hope to attain is the fleeting attention of a silent reader... who may--when push comes to shove (and it will)--remember something you said.

Yes but better to teach respect of each other regardless of abilities than lump all in one basket. But I agree that all are capable of equal morals and ethics even if intelligence displays a gap. No need for the poor of self-esteem to lash out.

Look at how Christians condemn, when the Bible clearly states sin is sin and there are no better or worse when it comes to sinners.

Some people are born with poor self-esteem, others have it forced upon them.
The difference between classes is the other inescapable variable.
What happens when poor kids and rich kids are thrown into the same melting-pot, aka school-system? What happens when a poor-but-good kid steals to eat, and gets tossed in with drug-dealers and other career-criminals? What happens when some random chemical-attraction leads to a marriage of polar-opposites? What happens when familes have more children than they can afford, and far more than they can ever hope to control?
Capable of equal morals... sure, maybe... unless and until life-happens.
Who walks away from any of the above with self-esteem and morals intact?
Can the people who've never experienced any of that, respect the ones who have?

They say walk a mile in their shoes. Good luck with that empty platitude.
Because to do that, you'd have to first remove your own shoes:
Strip yourself of everything that ever happened to you, along with your very own built-in class-system, and all of your DNA and birthdate. = Can't be done.

Empathy is an interesting concept... if vicarious is your thing... but is it truly possible between the classes... or even between the genders? Song writers can only stir-up feelings within those who have had similar experiences. Can a man who never felt love, feel anything when listening to love songs? Can someone who was never truly hungry, feel compassion for those who do... all day, every day, for years? Iesus had compassion for the hungry multitudes, because He went 40 days without food.
Can the rich ever feel compassion, unless they were born poor?

But WHY do they condemn that which they call sin?

The one with a plank in his eye judged his brother who had the same sin. Aren't they really feeling bad about the sins they currently have and cannot overcome? Being consumed by a sin with which your brother is barely touched... How sad is that?

(Certainly some sins are different. Jude calls those sins ...hating even the flesh that touches it... but he never says to revile those who suffer from it.)

I grew up and went to school in a small countryside village where each class ranged from wealthy to extremely poor and there was not one case of treating each other unequally as humans. Perhaps it is the society that is to blame. You know.. the jock versus nerd mentality
