  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello....
Anyone work with wire? I find it fascinating and have made jewelry for several years from wire. I have plans to make some wire and bead embellished baskets. I just wondered if anyone else had worked with wire, I am not a beginner at this, but I could stand to learn some new techniques. Just beginning to get the nerve for jig work.... any wire benders out there?

I've dabbled with it a few times. I'm pretty good at it, for jewelry, but I don't get hit with that many ideas for inspiration.

I did bend a coat wire perfectly for a "hard to reach" lock on an locked car because of my bending talents. One try was all it took, and it pulled the tab SIDEWAYS :).

My favorite piece was a bracelet I made of polished stones. I wrapped each stone with a pretty squiggle of wire, and added a fresh water pearl in the squiggle...then made the loop to connect each stone to the chain. Those puppies will never fall off the chain. LOL

;) Yeah, wire is pretty versatile and durable.
I just made a bracelet from a pattern similar to this one last night

http://www.wirediva.com/egyptian_coil.htm

I search through pattern books and haunt the library for my ideas. I haven't been working with wire long enough for it to speak original ideas to me yet, but I am hoping! I got the pattern for the Egyptian Coil bracelet from an old book that I got at the library. There are some wire books at the Design Original web site.

I love working with wire. I made my bracelet from copper wire since the real silver is out of my price rang.

I love that style. My favorite place for ideas is Ebay. There's always something different, and even if I don't like a particular piece, sometimes I see an idea in it that I can use.
I like to look at the work of others and I do purchase pattern books, check out library books... but you know I can't follow the directions, there is a rebellious something in me that forces me to change SOMETHING about the piece. Can you make something exactly the way the directions instruct you?:D ;)
