I suppose suggestions would depend on the state you reside in. I just completed a tour/day at Firelands winery in Ohio and HIGHLY recommend their wines. They bottle for out-of-state consumers under the "Mon Ami" label and have some very nice wines. For todayI am leaning toward a sweeter wine and would recommend their Riesling, although their Chardonnay is very good, too. I currently have their Niagra wine, which is definitely on the sweet side and their Gewertzatrainer which is drier than the Niagra but still on the sweet side of the line. Firelands is currently experimenting with an "ice" wine that is DEFINITELY a desert wine but is very good. So, there you have MY 2 cents worth.

You know they actually have a winery about an hour north of me, here in western Nebraska. Pretty good stuff!I like wine...in fact, I think it may border on love.
I limit myself to one bottle of wine per week.
I'm planning to stop at the wine store on the way home tonight and get a Chardonnay as well as a nice Cabernet. Any suggestions?
Also, I'm incredibly irritated that State law doesn't allow me to have wine delivered via mail.I'd be all over those "wine of the month" clubs.
If you don't mind an Anglican chiming in here, I am very fond of Spanish reds. They are reasonably priced and widely available. look for them in the import section. For about ten bucks a bottle, I would suggest Corona, a Tempranillo from the Torres winery. For about fifteen bucks, I would suggest Marques De Caceres Crianza Rioja.
For Domestic wines, Francis Ford Copolla's winery is putting out a good product. I am particularly fond of the maroon labeled Zinfandel and the black labeled Claret, both about fifteen bucks.
Viansa is incredibly awesome, but I went their on a bus tourMy big suggestion would be to go to Sonoma instead of Napa. You have to go to Viansa. They have the most beautiful grounds, best wine, best food, and the most informed staff. Sterling is in Napa though and had a lift up to the winery which is nice.
My last trip to Viansa I got the Prindelo, Athena, and Pacomio. Tried the Thalia and it was awesome but three was already past my budget. And my family gets the basic wine club for 42 dollars a month we get a white and a red. We also had a reserve cab sauvigon I believe for Christmas that was perfect and worth every penny. And, if you want to check out their food their olive oil is very good.
I would rent a car when you go instead of taking a bus tour because you can see more places and have longer to talk to the staff and walk around the grounds.
Bought- Isn't Viansa awesome!
That is what I find with most wines. The taste improves after you have had a glass or two.I ended up with a Firestone Chardonnay for my wife (which she didn't like), and a nice Chianti for myself.
The Chianti was rather dry (on the first glass), but juuust right on the second glass.![]()

Serve some modest wine first, then bring out the best; it tastes soooo much better. The Lord had it rightI agree, if you drink a glass of cheaper wine after a glass of excellent wine, it will not taste good - if you reverse the order, it will taste good (if the cheaper wine is a good wine, too). As a general rule (also in restaurants for example), what Christ did is to be preferred: save the best for last. That is what I find with most wines. The taste improves after you have had a glass or two.
This is where I disagree with the wine steward in the wedding at Cana. He said that the best wine is served first then bring out the cheap stuff. Wrong, IMOServe some modest wine first, then bring out the best; it tastes soooo much better. The Lord had it right
