hello i use windows media player for everything. video and mp3's. but lately when i try to play .mpg or .mpeg files it gives me sound but not video. but it plays .avi files perfectly. any help pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaseeeeeee.

No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

it's a common occurrence. If I were you, I'd uninstall Windows Media Player, download the new version, or get new versions of the codecs you think are messed up.

no cause i remember playing these videos before, and they had the sound and video. o well ill just uninstall wmp. BUT, i have a ton of albums on there. will it ruin the track listings and albums titles and such if i get rid of it?

Question: Did the files you are trying to play through Windows media player work before, or is it no showing all of your video files?
Also, if it's a new file, maybe you should try checking the properties of the file. Once you get the properties window up, go over to details and see if there actually is a video for that file, because if it says unknown, then all your lacking is the codec to play it. I had problems for the longest time trying to get audio out of certain files, when all I needed was the correct codec, one I didn't get when I installed the Divx.

Well, there's one thing I can think of that will help. Go to a forum where they know about this and either post a topic about it or do a search for it. And I'm not talking about this forum. Try http://forums.divx.com/ or just a general google search.

If you haven't already tried, try uninstall it and try re installing it again. Thats helped me out before for other programs.
