  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

End of saga - I've gone back to XP. I have been working with domestic computers since the days of green screen Amstrads and I can confidently say that I have never, ever, had so many problems with an OS, and I have upgraded / replaced OS's before. Nothing like this at all, though! I have a redundant copy of Win7 if anyone needs it desparately!

I let off steam to M'soft UK and they will refund my money and take back the program. They got a bit uppity when I said I loaded their arch enemies' program when IE8 fell over, until I pointed out that as it was their program that fell over I had to find a way of getting onto the M'soft site to search the FAQ's - and what did they suggest I use when their's is laying dead on the floor? They gave in reasonably gracefully when I also pointed out that the Microsoft Intellipoint 11.8 mouse didn't work either and it's only a few months old - Win7 said it was 'incompatible' - I guess that sort of clinched it!

I have a Linksys 300N and I use to be able to link with other computers a mile away. MS did not like that, so they rewrote my software on my disc and module, without asking for my permission. Now what do you think of that?

$14 a month gets you a Mac Mini, which has a pretty decent config, and the latest OS. Wife has one and loves it:

Mac mini - Apple Store (U.S.)

Although that is possible, I like the idea of modifying my software for me. Linux allows you to do that. And the software is free.

I'll just wait a year or so until I need a new laptop then buy with win7 already on it - and it will be more stable then for obvious reasons. I think this version was rushed out for Christmas and the right research hadn't been done on the jump from XP to Win7. My daughter had the beta version of 7 already running on her laptop and the final version runs fine, now. So it's of very mixed benefit. The purpose of the thread is to warn others not to jump in too quickly - if too many ask for their money back they will put their foot down and say No! Just be very careful.
