Has anyone else seen the preview for this? Who thinks Johnny Depp will make a better Willy Wonka than Gene Wilder? Johnny is a very gifted actor. I think he will do a marvelous job in this movie!

No one can ever replace Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, but because this remake of the movie is ment to be more bizarre and out there, Johnny Depp is a great choice for an eccentric person.

i agree, i am a big Johnny Depp fan. However...i'm not quite sure if he will be able to fill the shoes of Gene Wilder...i am also a Wilder fan..and i think that wilder fit that part perfectly. It will be interesting to see how he does.

BUt i must say, i do believe that they pick the right act to try to best wilder for the part!!! I honestly think depp may pull it off, cus he's just that good.

and actually, Lithium, its just more heaily based on the book than the first one, not really meant to be more out there löl

ITA, and Tim Burton is a great choice for director of this bizarre remake.

I really like the song that goes with the trailer. It reminds me of Welcome to Duloc from Shrek. Harry Gregson-Williams worked on both Shrek soundtracks I wonder if he did Chcolate Factory's soundtrack too.

its always hard to remake a film if that film was as classic as wilder as wonka but johnny depp was made for these type of weird parts.i cant wait...im a huge Depp fan,have seen him really stretch himself and always delights. i saw the preview and had to say..HA! he is wonka! i look forward to july 2005 and i will be there on opening night for this film.

I read the book in grade 3 but I didn't enjoy the movie at all. It was much too freaky with the bright orange monsters called Oompa Loompas. Incredibly scary. I wonder how the Oompa Loompas will look in this movie eh?

oddly,my teacher in catholic school also read us the book.i was in 3rd grade too i wanted an oompa loompa of my own.

First I believe that the score for the film will be done by Danny Elfman - a long time collaborator with Tim Burton, who has done the musical score for the majority of Burton's films.

Second this is not a remake. They are not remaking the old movie, but have basically tossed aside the old film - having nothing to do with it, but rather are going strictly off the book.

Third I am also looking forward to this film. Only 5 months to go..

The trailer creeped me out. That song is disturbing, lol.

I'm alittle afraid of this movie, actually. Gene Wilder was amazing as Willy Wonka and, as talented as Johnny Depp is, I doubt he'll be able to live up to Wilder.

I don't think that this movie will top the original, but I am interested in seeing it.

Nobody can play Wonka as well as Gene Wilder but Johnny could probably be a close second. I can't wait until it comes out.

Ditto about those Oompa Loompas-I still don't like the original because of those dwarfs, and I especially hate that final scene where Wonka is so mean to Charlie!

I think many parents will take their kids to see this movie thinking it is a remake. I think the original was geered more towards children and this rendition may be more bizarre and scary to some children. I think parents of small children should screen it first before taking their kids.
