I just learned that he is the replacement for D. James Kennedy down at Coral Ridge.

He has resigned from the Gospel Coalition, does any one know what the issue is, and what are your thoughts on this preacher.

In Him,

Bill

From the man himself:

For the past 5 years I have been primarily blogging at The Gospel Coalition and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. But the ministry of Liberate has grown to the point where I really need to focus all of my attention and efforts over there rather than here.

I don't know much about him. Many sites quote some of his statements which seem very sound theologically.

Okay, let me tread as softly as I can as Tull is still in many eyes a preacher for God.

I was a member of Coral Ridge years ago when Dr Kennedy passed. What ensued was not pretty and required police presence. Tull agreed to many parameters brought by the committee who had him hired and then he went against what he promised (such as not removing current staffing)... and at the church meeting rather than present his side of the contract conflicts he had a session member preach against the wayward sheep! He had had a church "up the road" and brought down all his members who signed up brand new people to vote for their pastor...etc. and they took over our lovely facility that glorified God.

..any way these issues and his attitude caused a huge split in Coral Ridge. I was not a part of either side and merely wished to find out the whole story...yet was removed from the church rolls soon after the split.

From my own knowing of this person, and from hearing comments from others who also had experience and view him on his interviews and presentations such as on TBN, this man is very narcissistic and selfish. I could not sense a calming Spirit about him but felt only angst and conflict when near him...and sense the same when I see him and listen to him on tv.

Let me say that this is evidence that God can and will use anyone. ;)

Just my POV folks.

His theology is in line with the law gospel hermeneutic which I think was the underlying issue was with his continuing involvement with the Gospel Coalition. At the beginning of one sermon he stated that his text was "The whole Bible" and his two points were "Law and Gospel". Michael Horton seems to be influential in the formation of his theology

Hmm. I personally have little issues with law-gospel but I do with Niebuhr.

Calvin did not embrace the Law-Gospel hermeneutic for conversion, only to place believers back under the Law as a method for obtaining righteousness in sanctification.

(Niebuhr )
In truth, he added little to the theological quest for a more precise understanding of God and Christ. Even in the area of his greatest contribution, the doctrine of man, he was too polemical to be confined to the formal structures of theology.
Reinhold Niebuhr

No, indeed it is the state of the man that repels me.
