  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

MY DEAR BROTHER IN CHRIST,

God, of course, is the best person to ask whether or not something you are involved with is sinful or not. If you are worried about your masturbating, it is probably God, through the Holy Spirit, speaking to your conscience and letting you know that there is a problem.

i would suggest you read "EVERY YOUNG MAN'S BATTLE" by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker. It is available at any Christian Book Store or through Amazon.com at: http://www.amazon.com/Every-Young-M...ef=sr_1_1/104-7568885-2335928?ie=UTF8&s=books
This book is very good resource for dealing with the issues you are struggling with and i think it will be a great help to you. MAY YOU BE BLESSED!

IN CHRIST,
ephraim

Hi Dyin2 live,

Now much of this comes from past hurts, rejection, loneliness, and a empty heart.

Now as soon as you become active in focusing on our Lord Jesus Christ, and able to get your mind more active on others things in the Body of Christ, you will find that it will diminish.

Boredom causes these things.

Focus on other things is the answer, and working through your Freedom in Christ.

Take care

I will agree with this wonderful reply.

The Bible is silent on the subject of Masturbation and does not directly list it out as a sin. The thought that Masturbation is a sin could cause excessive feelings of guilt, low self-esteem and even inferiority complex in a person. It can also lead to excessive worry, frustration or depression.

I have been personally addicted to Masturbation maybe since the time i was your age. At your age i did not receive much guidance from anyone concerning this habit. I was not born-again either. But, i have been trying regularly over the years to overcome this habit and i can say that the frequency of committing masturbation has been greatly reduced. There were times when i could not control myself from doing it. It was like a strong physical urge which needed release.

When it comes to the matter of Flesh, almost most of us stumble now and then and have struggles with it. If we do not have the habit of masturbation, we might be having the habit of fornication or even both.

God used it to bring in low-thoughts in me to the point that i do not judge anyone who commits masturbation. God uses our besetting sin(s) to bring in low-thoughts about ourselves and so as to deliver us from a judgemental or criticising attitude towards those who are trying to overcome those very same besetting sin(s) in their own lives.

Those who are addicted to masturbation right from their childhood find it hard to overcome it in later years. They could also end up with sexual problems like pre-mature [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], a bent-organ and discolored private parts like me.

Even though we may not be able to overcome this fleshly habit soon, God understands us and our weakness in the flesh. He is merciful towards us.

While my intention is not to encourage you to indulge excessively in this habit, i do not want you to feel excessively guilty about it and frustrate yourself on this. I have honestly provided the following inputs so that you may make a wise decision.

And i also wholeheartedly agree with Elijah2's reply. Apart from what he said, This is my honest and personal opinion. I know that this reply of mine may not be that much appreciated by some Christians. But, i hope it helps you in anyway to take better decisions right from this age onwards.

The Lord bless you.

Brother,
You are not alone in your struggle with masturbation. I myself am struggling with it. What I have found as a solution for me is to have accountability and be around people. Don't isolate yourself whatever you do! That is when the Devil gets you and when you fall. Remember, you are a new creation in Christ. The old has passed, the new has come! If you need assistance, prayer, help, etc. send me a private message.

God Bless you,
Jesse

thanx all, also what is willfull sin?? I read about it in Heberews and its says that if we keep doing it the cross will not cover it and all u can have is fearful expectation of fiery judgement or sumthing like that. What is willfull sin??
Hi Mate,

Wilful sin, is committing those sins continually that are in the eyes of our Lord Jesus Christ as sin. They are recorded throughout HIS WORD. And masturbation isn't recorded. But, Scripture does say something about falling seeds onto the ground, which I believe is sperm.

Some more information on other health problems, particularly as you get into later life of being a male, postrate cancer.

It is believed that if the postrate gland is not used regularly, postrate cancer can be a problem. So, if you are unmarried, don't have sex, then how do you keep your postrate gland working.

Just a question to throw in at a time of encouragement to all who are guilty of such. Yep as HE said to the finger-pointers, "Who will throw the first stone?"

Take care mate, just keep on fighting a good fight of faith, and get more of our Lord Jesus Christ in you life, and you will find that the sexual urge of lust will diminish.

There is much work to do through any Christian's life, after all they are not all perfect.

By the way, I've caught a lot of stones, but I know that HE loves me and forgives me.

Love in Christ

forgive me but i need to give my two pence worth

firstly, the part about spilling seeds on the ground concerns a guy in Genesis who was expected, according to OT customs, to have a child with his brother's widowed wife. he didn't want to and masturbated before intercourse so he could "spill his seeds on the ground" and she wouldn't fall pregnant. this is in genesis 4 i think. it says it angered God and He struck him dead. there is a lot of dispute about what exactly angered God, but i beg to say that it is not the masturbation, but rather the fact that he did not do his duty to his deceased brother - without a child, the widow would be defenseless and an outcast - remeber, this was in OT society.

now, about the masturbation... i really don't believe the act itself is a sin. if i think of my future husband, i'd rather have him touch than lose his virginity - you get what i'm saying? remeber that verse in Matthew... something about if a man looks at a woman and thinks of sleeping with her out of wedlock, it is also a sin, i.e. the sin is lust. now it is up to you to decide if you can touch without lust... if you can't, your struggle isn't with that, but with the lust in your life and that is the thing that you need to confront.

i think that's it.

I wouldn't get to stressed out about it. I don't see masturbation resulting in a one way ticket to hell. Just make sure to research it through the bible, the medicial pros/cons, and come to a decision on your own. And of course pray about it. Cut out the middle man, talk to God directly, and see where that leads you :)

absolutely :)

Brad's right, you know... there are no sins that'll give you a one-way ticket to hell, apart from denying Christ... but Revelations does say that we will also be rewarded according to our deeds... so, like he said, ut the middle man and talk to God.

oh, and look, while i don't believe there's anything wrong with it, if masturbation is causing you guilt that eats you up on the inside and taking away your life joy, just remember that nothing is stopping you from stopping.

Amen!! I believe that touching yourself isnt a sin as long as u know how to control it. It cant run your life. I can say that i do this and God hasn't stop revealing himself to me. In Fact, Just recently i recieved the evidence of his Holy Spirit. You shouldn't worry about it, most people do it, especially young people becaue we are trying to abstain from sex, but our hormones are raging. Sexual urges are normal, and at least your not fornicating, which is a sin thats mentioned in the bible. Just don't make anything a passion except for Christ.

i read a scripture that said we must not have even a hint of sexual impurity to enter the kingdom of heaven......:(
Um, you mean Ep 5:3-5, right?

You've said it yourself, you're struggling with guilt of sin here. Let's begin with that: like everyone else posting here, you're impure, guilty of sin. I'm no exception here, either. And thank God! We have a Savior Who has accounted for that. He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness, if we admit and agree with God, we have sinned (1 John 1:8-10).

So what's up with Ep 5:3-5?

Paul's admonishing people in the church not to have even a hint of sexual impurity (among other things), knowing that the impure (among a list of others) do not inherit the kingdom of God.

The first is a reputation among others and within the church -- that's the only place where 'hinting' can occur. But the other is downright impossible without the purity of Christ to redeem us from our impurity. Because we're all impure. We all need a savior.

So why's Paul telling us to avoid "even a hint of impurity"?

Well, the church and we who trust Christ would be so much better off if we have a better reputation for purity among us. Your reputation matters, all the more the older you get. People are much more skeptical of you if you don't have a good reputation. And how does that help your friends see Christ? It's a tough thing to see people reject Christ because of the reputation you've built (or destroyed) for yourself.

That's a reputation with others -- the hint of sexual impurity -- because it's an enticement to other people. They could get hoodwinked into believing sin is totally OK with God. And it's not.

I don't find masturbation alone to be a sin, but it's often not alone -- there're sexual implications to it that are sinful.

The passage you are having issue with is Hebrews 10:26-36. But you first must understand that this whole letter to the Hebrews was addressed to Judeo-Christians. They were close to forsaking Jesus, due to persecution.

The writer of Hebrews is reminding them of their perseverence in earlier days, and exhorting them not to forsake Jesus, and fall back into Judaism to escape persecution.

This is an entirely different issue than sins of the flesh.

Furthermore, the statement about "Do not forsake the assembling as in the habit of some" Heb 10:25, is totally taught wrong in the modern "church".

Learn this. The Jewish Christians were being tempted to fall away from Christ, and their properties would be taken, as well as the possibility of physical suffering. So there was GREAT temptation to distance themselves from one another, so as NOT to be seen with other Christians, because if they were associating with saints who were about to come under the "gun", then they too, would more than likely come under the same suffering/persecution.

Thus, the writer is telling them, "Guys! Now more than ever, stand by one another and show your faith! Do not forsake the assembling, but rather encourage one another as the Day draws near. You have need of endurance!!! Stand by one another in the heat of it all!"

Do you see this? It is beautiful! He was not telling them to "go to church" to fulfill some bogus law (we are NOT under the LAW!), but rather exhorting the brethren to stand by one another in their time of duress.

Anything that would possibly be construed as LEGALISM must be wrong! And so it is.

Reiterating, the willful sinning, was to warn the brethren that to spurn the Cross, forsake Jesus, and turn to a different religion (Judaism, in this instance), then there would no longer remain for them a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment. This is obvious, since Jesus is the ONLY way to avoid judgment.

Peace to you.

do u think im goin to hell because i cant help masturbating sometimes?

i dont use porn and i dont use any images in my mind...
Short answer: no. Not for this cause alone.

That said, many would project this answer wildly into actions that can and do lead them straight to hell. It's limited to private masturbation on the conditions you're speaking of.

Grow in Christ, though. Don't obsess on this, and indeed try to push your own growth in Christ and your communion with Christ's people more than this.

The peace of Christ Jesus is with you.
