• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I hope everyone is well.

The brief outline of me is that I have for a few years now been going down the wrong path. I have done drugs and been drinking too much and been on travelling down the wrong road. But things have happened and I have become a Believer. I believe there is a God and that he loves me. But I'm worried because I have done bad things like I've mentioned before.

I would just like to know, will the Lord forgive me now that I am willing to change? i still have a long way to go but I hope that God will accept that I'm changing my ways and forgive me.

Thanks

Joyce Meyer is a great teacher! But I want you to know that when you put your trust in the Lord, you are wiped clean from your sins. They no longer exist and you are "born again". It sounds like you should talk to God about how you can forgive YOURSELF for things you've done. It can be a barrier that the enemy is using to keep you from believing that God is good and loves you right where you are. And, find a good church to get in to. They will have classes for new believers that will help you. God is good, and I was born again 3 years ago and my life has never been the same. I was going down the wrong path just like you. Don't get be wrong, being saved doesn't mean you won't have trials, you just have a direct lifeline with God to walk with you through the trials! He is good, and He loves you, never doubt that!

God loves you, Goldenyoungie. The moment you asked to be forgiven you were forgiven. Your sin was wiped clean, as it says in the Bible, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow," Isaiah 1:18.

You are clean because God has made you so.

What happens now is that as you walk with God He will help you change. He does not force you to change. He helps you as you cry out to Him and choose to serve Him. He will never take away your free will. He can choose to walk with Him or not, to serve Him or not. But I will tell you, if you choose to walk with Him, He will take you from the depths of hell to the throne of heaven. You will be changed, He will give you beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning, Is. 61:3, He will make you beautiful beyond what you are now, and victorious in every trial.

You are an overcomer, this is your heritage because you have been born again. God can help you through every hardship, He will dry your tears, He will bring you to a new place, a place of love and unity with the Holy Spirit.

May I suggest? Read Romans 8 everyday for the next month. It will change your life, as you realize your place in Christ.

Be blessed.

Will He? Without a doubt. Have you asked for His forgiveness?
He is the God of mercy and forgiveness. God knew your path before you stepped foot on it!
Walking with God is a day to day thing and even though life does not turn into a bowl of cherries, you develop a new perspective and priority change. Walk with God and lay your troubles at the feet of Jesus! :preach:
