• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Can I take a medicine (its called SERENATA) that can make me sociable because I have fear in talking to people. Is it ok to God if I use that?

I don't see medicines for mental illness, such a social anxiety any different than a someone who has other health problems.

No one can know the answer of the Lord, but I can not imagine it would be wrong to take measures to help yourself.

Try it out. If it doesn't work for you then you can get on a different med. It is ok to God to take care of your mental health.

Sometimes you need to just work things out for yourself. I used to be completely un-sociable, if that's a word. But over time I think you work through it. Comfortability is key, if you're not comfortable, you're not going to be very sociable. I personally wouldn't take anything that effected me for that reason. I take meds to keep my moods in check but to me, keeping myself from instantaneous mood changes and just being more sociable isn't really the same thing. Again, do what you're comfortable with, but I have another story lol

I was short in middle school, still kind of in high school and now too, but I was so discouraged that I tried talking my mom into buying me height pills called HeightMax just because I wanted to be taller. I have grown since then, 5'7 or 5'8ish is reasonable for me. I would give it more time, that is my advice :)

God Bless You

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith... who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. (1Tim. 4:1-5)

If in your judgment you think you'll benefit from it, then ask God's blessing upon your use of the drug and take it with the clean conscience of knowing that God's creations cannot be considered evil in and of themselves.
