The Rubicon was a stream separating Cisalpine Gaul from Italy. When Julius Caesar led his troops from Gaul to the Rubicon, Caesar paused on the northern end of the bridge debating whether to cross or not. It would be a crime against Rome for proconsul Caesar to bring his troops in from the province, but if he didn't, he would be stripped of command and prosecuted. Although he hesitated, Caesar did cross the Rubicon, in January 49 B.C., thereby starting a civil war.
To cross the Rubicon means to take an irrevocable step that commits one to a specific course.
With all the controvesy being thrown on their beliefs and the attacks on the doctrine and articles of faith, their are some Adventist who have weakend in their resolve to follow God and have become confuse on what to do. The world has declared the faithful as misguided legalist, an enemy of the state of sin that they enjoy. They have shaken many Adventist into giving up their faith, and others have been taken down by false teachers and doctrines. So do we surrender our faith or do we decide on a different course of action.
The Adventist faithful have come to their Rubicon, will they go forward and cross the stream of time to prepare for the Second Coming, or will they break rank on the banks and fall in disarray. We have always know that Second Coming would be preceded by a falling away. There would be revealed the evil influence of the Antichrist, and the pull of apostasy was to work with increasing power to the end of time. We know we were not to be surprised when we saw the widespread turning aside of faith and piety.
We have been told there would be those who would fall away from the path cast up for the those who walk in Gods truth. God has been sending warnings, reproofs, and encouragements to the faithful on the banks of the spiritual Rubicon. He has warned them that some might not make it there or would depart from the faith before they reached its banks, giving heed to enticing spirits from the enemy of God. Well, we are here, do we cross or give up the faith and wait for the end with no hope.....
