• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wikileaks and Julian Assange

What are your thoughts on Wikileaks?

  • The site should be shut down, Assange should be sent to Gitmo, if not outright killed, for treason.

  • Wikileaks provides an extra level of scrutiny and oversight.

  • Some stuff they publish the public has a right to know, but some of it should stay secret.

I'm interested to hear more about people's opinions on the current furore over the constant exposures of diplomatic cables on Wikileaks.

There's a poll, and I'd also like people to offer comments for their responses, so we can discuss them in further detail. So, your thoughts?

Yeah, how could Australia send someone to Gitmo, me wonders.
No lesser person than Sarah Palin herself has said this is the appropriate course of action, which suggests to me there is probably a significant fraction holding this view, hence its inclusion in the poll.

I find a lot of the conservative attitudes on this issue quite disturbing. Execution for publicizing diplomatic documents? At least some people at Fox News still care about due process and freedom of the press

Judge Napolitano is a Libertarian.

Judge Andrew Napolitano discusses why the government doesn’t have a right to prosecute WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for releasing government documents.

Another thing to add to the list of reasons why Plain ain't so bright.

Treason is the crime that covers some of the more serious acts of betrayal of one's nation.

Assange cannot be tried for treason in the United States since he is not a citizen. He could be tried for treason in Australia although I don't know how they would pull that one off.

Napolitano says, "if you see something suspicious, say something" what the heck is that supposed to mean...

They've planted the seeds of paranoia and the Cattle mentality in people, with many already convinced they are okay with being groped at the airports without probable cause.

Where does he say that?

I'm not quite sure what you mean, he would agree with what you just said.

Our Police state is well under way, and One world government as well.
Key in Twilight Zone music and illuminati references.

Anyone know the status of those "warehouses" being built by FEMA or Homeland Security?

It's not that difficult to stay on topic. Please do so.

While I am dubious of Asange's motives, considering his affiliations with far-left anarchist groups, I think that this process is cathartic for politics and corporatism in general. Too much crap going on behind the scenes that are insulting to the people that elect these buffoons to office. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Don't you have to be a US Citizen to commit Treason against the US?

That is generally the rule, but since many other nations are just puppet states of the US, they will cave to US diplomatic pressure and do whatever we tell them to do.

Are we going to pay attention to the opinions of any other TLC reality show stars?

Should we care what the tattoo artists on Miami Ink think about Wikileaks. How about that woman from 19 kids and counting? Perhaps the Sister Wives have an interesting take on it.

Do not confuse Sarah Palin with a person of substance.
