Unarmed civilians shouldn't threaten attack helicopters and then complain when they are shot at.
Finaly, someone sensible! That's right the very fact that a civilian moves makes them a potential target to be shot at. If an attack helicopter flies near you the best possible thing that you can do is lay perfectly flat face down on the ground. In any other circumstances a civilian looks suspicious and US soldiers have every right to shoot them without any hesitation.
Except that the wikileaks video, in addition to opening itself up for quote mining, out of context propaganda purposes, also makes individual soldiers potential targets, as well as providing military inteligence and insight into our military doctrine and operating procedures.
No double standard at all. Stealing secrets and providing them to foreign powers is treason. The Ground Zero mosque protesters have done nothe=ing remotely like that. The GZ mosque fiasco also opens itself to quote-mining and out-of-context propaganda, which can used for recruitment of radicals. And yet you don't consider the GZ mosque protestors as 'traitors to America' worthy of the penalty it merits? Much of what you post reeks of double-standards.

Video of the GZ mosque was not a classified military document. Chalk and cheese.Of course there is a huge double-standard on your part. Firstly, you suggested that a non-American could be considered guilty of 'treason' to the US and tried under US law for the crime, but that an American doing exactly the same thing with French secrets shouldn't be tried for 'treason' by the French because he is not subject to French law. Secondly, you claimed that the Wikileaks video could be used for propaganda purposes to recruit terrorists, and that it was therefore wrong for Wikileaks to publish it. However, even though the whole GZ mosque controversy could also be used for the same purposes, you don't reach the same conclusion, even though internal consistency would compel you to do so. Double-standards.

We're talking about the person who posted the video on the web, not the people in them. But both can be twisted and used for terrorist recruitment purposes. And yet you treat one group of people differently to others.
LOL Austrians can't be patriots!I'd like to participate in this thread, but Hans Talhoffer's arguments are very depressing to me. If we agree with the founding fathers that it's the duty of a patriot to protect his country from its government, then we should support a group like Wikileaks that tries to tell the truth about the wrong things our government does.
LOL Austrians can't be patriots!
Because we're talking about America. Do keep up.Why can't Austrians be patriots in Austria?
Because we're talking about America. Do keep up.
The internet is American, so it was implied. Then shouldn't you have worded a bit differently: "LOL Austrians can't be American patriots!", instead of "LOL !Austrians can't be patriots!"?
And weren't you talking about Australians, not Austrians, anyway?
Or do I know your mother tongue better than you?![]()
The internet is American, so it was implied.
Why not try to address the problems revealed and put the ones responsible at trial, or at the very least kick their sorry corrupt hind-sides out of government.
Its nice to meet another patriotic American. At moments like these I can say I'm glad to live in a country with one of the very lowest government corruption rates in the world.
