Wicked: Book vs. Musical

Ok my DH & I are going to see Wicked in April... before yesterday, I'd only ever heard one song, and then DH got me hooked on the soundtrack. Anyway, he's read the book, which is what prompted him to want to see the musical in the first place. I'm just wondering if I should read the book before I go or if I'll understand the story enough without having first read the book.

Hope that wasn't too confusing LOL Thanks for any advice :)

Thanks for the tip... I think my DH has told me all but the most minute details of the book already *rolling eyes* so there's probably no point in my reading the book anyway LOL

We're going to the Dallas Summer Musicals series... we saw The Lion King 4 1/2 years ago and loved it! Not sure why it's taken us this long to see another one LOL

You don't need to read the book at all, it's actually very different from the book! The musical can be a family thing, the book is very much for adults. The musical flows better (obviously perhaps...), the book goes into, I think, a little too much detail every now and then and I get a bit bored. I think the musical is much better.

The book got a bit graphic for my taste, and while a fun book for the most part, I, like Paddington, got a bit bored at times with the excruciating detail. Haven't seen the musical (though I would LOVE to) but I should think you wouldn't need to read the book to understand the musical. Any background info you would need to know should be printed in the program.

Have a great time and make sure you let us know how it was! :)

I love the musical so much better than the book. The book is ronchy and not fun to read at all. The musical is amazing. Everyone should see it. The music and set is amazing and I love it so much! I saw it when I went to New York and it was amazing!
