Why?

Why is it that good Christians turn athiest so much? I mean, I have a friend at another forum, and she use to be a strong Christian. But, I found out a little while ago that she had turned into an athiest(though I do believe she is agnostic). I asked her why, and asked her to talk to a Christian friend of mine who has helped me out several times(like when I myself was thinking of going athiest). She replied and declined my offer for her to talk to my other friend, and said "Decided.". I later replied, asking her what she meant by "Decided.", but she again replied with the same word: "Decided." This was over the PM system at the forum, but on thread there she claimed that she tried to stay Christian but it just didn't work for her.


Why do these things happen? Why do people do this?

Because they have been hurt or disillusioned? If a Christian they trusted or someone who holds a position in the church lets them down, they lash out against what they represent: Christianity. Be a friend to her and show the love of Christ to her, this is much more effective than having a theological discussion with a blckslidden Christian. The problem isn't her head, it's her heart. I'll pray for her heart to be softened.

Kam there are a number of different reasons why some people give up their faith.Some people suffer great losses and because their minister never taught them that Satan controls this world,which is exactly what the bible says,they blame God for their problem.Others are influenced by their friends to give up their faith.That's why it's so important to only select true Christians as your friends.Some give up their faith because they come under attack from Satan who is always looking for converts.This most likely is the explanation for why Judas betrayed Jesus.His turning away from God also clearly debunks the myth that once you are saved,you can never lose your salvation.There is another reason why people lose their faith.It most frequently happens around age 18 when high school kids leave their family,friends and church and go to a non-religious college.Big mistake!There are college professors who seem to take delight in destroying the faith of their students.Throughout your life you will need to be on guard against those who attempt to do Satan's work for him.The goal to always follow is to stay close to Jesus.

well the bible really does say that we have an adversary the devil, who goes around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, ya know?

we dont realise that there really is a moving living force out there that intends to destroy us and will, if he has the slightest oppurtunity.
the devil is liar, and he has deceived your friend.

you ask why, its just that there is a very real devil and thats what he does.

you really need to pray, it could be that she encountered something that decieved her, there is alot of anti-christian material going around these days.
but you need to pray and ask God to show her the truth.

i have a friend who was the most educated and well learned athiest that i have ever met in my life, this young man is brilliant, and very confident that there was no such thing as God. ive met many people who call themselves atheists but this young man was by far the brightest of them all...
but friend...
i sought the Lord and prayed for him and asked God to reveal to him the truth, and cast out the devil who had power over his life.
this young man is now a Christian.
there is hope if your friend if your willing to hang in there and fight for them. have faith in God.
just becuase they fell away doesnt mean they are doomed, its not over yet, they can be saved. pray for them and be bold in prayer, the devil cant resist them in the name of Jesus and God will always answer your prayers if your patient, keep praying...
