CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Was that a real sword, Tariel? What sort? Broadsword, longsword, short Roman stabbing sword...?

wooden--we'd never be allowed to fight each other with real ones. As it is we've nearly gotten in trouble for excessive bruising (one of my best friends hit my knuckle quite nicely a few weeks ago and my hand was bruised for a long time).

O.K & does that give you a sense of using a real sword? Curious. I would have thought fencing might have been more appropiate? Have you tried that too? Is there a difference if you have?

I don't think I would much like fencing. Too many rules
My friends and I fight full force, full swing--no holding back. If we were using anything with a blade we would kill each other--and the school rather frowns upon students killing each other. There's also that rule about "no open blade knives" I'm assuming that would include swords (that's the real reason we use wood--we're allowed to 
)

Why do you do it? I'm sure it gets rid of plenty of pent up aggression but apart from that why? I would think it would hurt.

Actually I'm not convinced it's easier to sit on the hilltop & watch your friends get hacked to pieces so you can make up songs about them later but I'm happy to be a wimp if it keeps me alive & believe me you are better off dead than having to listen to me sing!
