Why is it that the first three volumes of the Iron Maiden 2nd manga are available or are going to be soon in Germany but not in America?! If only I'd kept up more on my German I could read it, but I doubt I'll be able to now, since I haven't really used it much since I graduated High School a year and a half ago.

If no one knows what I'm referring to by Iron Maiden 2nd, it's the first of two officially-recognized scenarios based on the alternate universe presented in the 26th episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion (the second is Ikari Shinji Ikusei Keikaku, or roughly approximated to, Ikari Shinji Raising Project) - I'm not sure if it's officially recognized by Gainax, but considering these are not doujinshi since they run in magazines (including Asuka, the same magazine that published X/1999) I would assume it is company-sanctioned. Both of these manga are based on games or game series released by Gainax. In English, Iron Maiden 2nd is also called Girlfriend of Steel 2, but the official licensed name of it is Angelic Days, and appears in Newtype USA. It had 3 full volumes and the first chapter of the fourth volume scanlated before ADV picked up the license and the series was dropped by the group doing the translation.

Now I find that the German release of the manga is far ahead of the English release and my basic problem is that my German is so rusty that after Vol.4 Ch.1, I'd probably have a very hard time deciphering what's being said.

Do you know anything about the Shinji Raising Project being released or scanlated? I'm not familiar with it, so I'd like to read it if I can.

In reference to what you were posting about in the first place, I have no idea why they would release it in German before English. That's really strange.

In English? ADV licensed it during the summer and it's already running in Newtype USA under the title 'Angelic Days'. The game it's based on, unfortunately, has yet to see a translated release, by either an official company or a fan group (although the first Iron Maiden game was translated by a fan and released online as an ISO image).

Do you know anything about the Shinji Raising Project being released or scanlated? I'm not familiar with it, so I'd like to read it if I can.

It's being scanlated by AT-Translations. The first two chapters have been released (due to group problems they came out like 5 months apart, and the one in charge of translating it is holding off until the tankoubon is released to finish the 1st volume, if I remember correctly), but unfortunately the BitTorrent links are down, so you have to get them through IRC. If that fails, I can send them.

I've got a very finicky connection to the internet right now. I think it goes through Hong Kong actually. Anyway, I know I can't use BT and IRC hasn't worked well at all (keeps kicking me off). I would really love to get it straight from you if I can, but I'm not sure how we'd do it.

I'll probably have to wait till I get home next year so I can get a legitamate internet connection.
