  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Why did God create the universe so that some of us would be born earlier and some later than others? Why cant I be a witness to Jesus' Christ's personal ministry? Why cant I have been there fighting alongside the Christians in the 1st crusade? Why couldnt I have been a member of the early church in Jerusalem? This may sound like a stupid question, but why do you think God made it the way it is?

We see through a glass darkly . . we cannot know the answers to all these questions .. We do not see what God sees or know what God knows . . .

I believe God has something incredible in store for us that if He were to tell us it would be so inconceivable that we wouldn't have a clue what to do with it . . . :)

So, such things stay hidden from us . . .

Peace in Him!

Brother Charlie,

We are all called to acts of heroism to rival those of the saints from ages long ago.

There is no greater act of heroism then to be holy and pure. It is far more noble and pleasing to God that you be a warrior of the internal struggle. Those who persevere at this battle are Saints. What else would you rather be?

Peace

Why? Because we can’t all be born at once. You do however experience the same exact Jesus in the Eucharist. You actually have it better than those who met him before his resurrection because you must view him through the eyes of faith. Jesus said- “You believe because you have seen, blessed is he who believes who has not seen.”

Oh and PS, you do experience his personal ministry, You are a member of his Church. His ministry never did end- it’s still very much ongoing. Because you are a Catholic- you are very blessed- you do have just what the first Christian had in the days of old.

Charlie, you can be a crusader TODAY.

There are wrongs to be righted.
There are innocents who need to be defended.
There are hungry who need food; thirsty who need drink.

A priest once gave the analogy of our perspective on time like this:

We look at life as though driving up Mt. Washington (for those who don't know it's in NH and is high up with a road to the top that just kills your transmission and braking systems because of some of the steep inclines). As you are riding in the car you get to a point where you can just barely see the road in front of the car, the rest is just air. You look back and see lots of land and a sliver of the road in the past. The future is completely uncertain but you go forward in trust. The past is now so narrow that you could never attempt to back down the way you came. So you drive in the present moment.

God however is in the plane flying over the mountain. He is not limited by the sights in front or behind you. He sees clearly the path you are taking and all that brought you there. Fortunately for you, as you develop you're prayer life, God can begin to give you His perspective (two-way radio?). He sees eternity both from the beginning of time to the end.

Life for those in Jesus' day was as tenuous for them if not more so than today. As they had to believe something completely radical, never done before. We have 2000 years of proof through miracles and changed lives to support our faith. Those that fought in the crusades, those that pioneered new lands for Christ, those that went before us, learned so much and they share that through their writings and their prayers. They do that because in some ways our battle is harder. We battle Satan in a very formidable but discreet way, everyday. He's in our homes via tv, radio, and news. We bring him in through so many humanistic forms of attachment. He invades even our churches. Our vision can be short-sited but God's is not. He equiped you specifically for this battle.

whew...:preach: thus ends my rant! It's a great question! And when you see how much God desires to use you for fabulous things you will share that journey with those you now admire!.
