Warning: This post may cause you to read your Bible obsessively
Aside from loving God's word there is one single and powerful reason why every person who professes to be Christian should endeavor to read the whole Bible and memorize as much of it as possible and that is:
Satan. Yes satan knows the Bible inside and out, for he is always busy trying to find loopholes and ways to pervert and misuse it. Now what Christian in his right mind would be comfortable thinking of satan as his better when it comes to the word of God? If you can't be a better Christian then satan, what's the point?
More importantly, Satan knows about the Revelation. So don't fall for the obvious traps: fake second comings, fake raptures (google blue beam project) fake christs and antichrists, mark of the beast on other areas of the body, etc etc etc. Satan has put an unbelievably enormous amount of effort into his deceptions and when he is ready he will hit the whole world with the full force of all of them at once.
If you don't believe this could happen, well I know there is a verse of scripture somewhere (revelation I believe) that implies the deceptions will be so strong they will fool all but Gods elect, or come close to fooling God's elect, possibly in relation to cutting those days short.
The good news is you will probably be rewarded. Acts 2:17 "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams."
Acts 2:19-20 "And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood and fire and vapour of smoke: the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the lord come."
But, the best news of all is found in Acts 21 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved."
